GQ Men Of The Year 2021

Mabel Fendi GQ Men Of The Year 2021.jpeg

The GQ Men of the Year 2021 took place at Tate Modern on Wednesday (September 1) in London.

It appears to be the same night that all the stylists in London had the night off, because this has to be in the running for the worst dressed event of the year.

Mabel wore a Fendi Fall 2021 set which instantly reminded me of the crushed Fendi look which AdĂšle Exarchopoulos wore during the 2021 Cannes Film Festival this year.

Winnie Harlow Vivienne Westwood GQ Men of the Year 2021

As you know I love Vivienne Westwood

You’ll never hear me say that I am tired of her classic corseted designs, yet this orange taffeta mini dress worn by Winnie Harlow is the exception.

Taffeta rarely looks good in my opinion, then you factor in that there’s just too much going on here and this is a bit of a mess.

Looking at the grass skirt, this could’ve been worst.

Maya Jama Julien Macdonald GQ Men of the Year 2021

The same can be said about Julien Macdonald.  Another designer I love despite knowing what he is going to present each season.

Would I buy this from JLo? Probably.

So why can’t I keep the same energy for Maya Jama?

I think it has a lot to do with the way the dress is squeezing the life out of her chest.

I have sensed from the comments, that many feel that Emma Corrin’s style is a bit too…extra. And that she was trying too hard, and doing too much.

Personally, I loved every minute.

So you might be happy that with her return to the red carpet that she toned things down wearing this custom black chiffon dress from Harris Reed styled with Roker shoes.

Dina Asher-Smith Mugler GQ Men of the Year 2021

Dina Asher-Smith’s Mugler graphic wave print dress with dramatic cut-outs passed the test in terms of not being all that bad in terms of the print, yet I didn’t find it very flattering for the Olympic athlete.

Maybe it’s just me, but I wouldn’t want to wear something that would accentuate my broad shoulders.

Maisie Williams Alexander McQueen GQ Men of the Year 2021

I did love Maisie Williams’ vintage Alexander McQueen gown.  The embroidery is exquisite, I just can’t get on board with this blonde eyebrow trend.

Make is stop.

Anne Marie Alex Perry Leopard dress GQ Men of the Year 2021

After rocking pink hair all summer, Anne-Marie returned to platinum blonde.

She wore a sensual Alex Perry Colton leopard print dress with built-in opera gloves styled with Bvlgari jewels.. The trouble is….

GQ Men of the Year 2021

Sabrina Elba had the same idea.  Awks.

She gets to go home with Idris Elba, so she’s winning every damn day.

GQ Men of the Year 2021

I love Alex Scott, as she used to play for my favourite football team.

Her style is usually impeccable, but between the eye makeup and the shoes I failed to get onboard with this Lanvin Spring 2021 look.

Neelam Gill Khaite GQ Men of the Year 2021

You may be surprised to learn that Neelam Gill’s dress if from Khaite, as it’s giving off Mînot, Mugler vibes.

The model’s Khaite Frida ribbed-knit midi dress was styled with my favourite Jimmy Choo Thyra embellished sandals.

Alexa Chung Victoria Beckham Resort 2022 GQ Men of the Year 2021

Honestly, even with the feather boa, I really liked this Victoria Beckham Resort 2022 dress on Alexa Chung.  She has the personality to pull this off.

Erin O'Connor Temperley London GQ Men of the Year 2021

Erin O’Connor is here to save us, and up the taste level wearing a plush velvet purple three-piece Temperley London suit.

Pixie Lott Versace GQ Men of the Year 2021

Pixie Lott, who has been Team Dolce for best part of 10 years, switched gears wearing a micro mini from Versace.

I feel like she was trying to tap into her inner Kate Moss, but this look doesn’t have Kate’s je ne sais quoi.

My favourite part of this look were her shoes.

Ellie Goulding Hugo Boss GQ Men of the Year 2021

Ellie Goulding has been known for her extravagant looks, but in this lilac BOSS one sleeve dress, she stood out for all the right reasons.

I adore the mint green sandals with this dress.

Raye red Blumarine GQ Men of the Year 2021

Am I alone in feeling like this Blumarine Fall 2021 red dress is a little dated on Raye?

There is something about her styling that always make me feel like I’m observing a red carpet from a few decades ago.

I have a feeling I would’ve loved this on someone like Vanessa Kirby.

Kathryn Newton in Valentino GQ Men of the Year 2021

We have another re-run from Kathryn Newton, as this Valentino Fall 2021 gown was worn during the Cannes Film Festival by Marina Ruy.
