‘Madres Paralelas’ Venice Film Festival Premiere & Opening Ceremony

Adriana Lima Etro Red Dress Venice Film Festival

The 2021 Venice Film Festival saw a lot more lovely ladies take to the red carpet for the opening ceremony which also served as the premiere for Penelope Cruz and Milena Smit’s new film ‘Madres Paralelas.’

You really didn’t think the first day of this festival was going to pass without an Etro gown, did you?

Adriana Lima was in full Adriana Lima mode rocking a sultry, strapless gown embroidered with lacquered red sequins.

There is a lot going on with the criss cross bustier and it looks like the dress is hanging on for dear life, but if anyone can make this work it’s Adriana.

Pomellato jewels completed this outing.

Alba Rohrwacher Dior Haute Couture Venice Film Festival

Alba Rohrwacher gave us another Dior Haute Couture pleated moment wearing a dress from the Fall 2021 collection.

The diamond point effect, and cape keep things interesting, even if the déjà vu is strong on this one.

Mariacarla Boscono JPG Venice Film Festival.jpeg

As I was saying earlier this week, burgundy is given such lush warm vibes.

Model Mariacarla Boscono hit the red carpet wearing this exquisitely draped Jean Paul Gaultier Fall 2016 Haute Couture dress.

I would’ve styled this with ruby jewels, but emerald and diamonds were Mariacarla’s choice for an interesting contrast.

I’m not a fan of the shoe choice, but they do fade into the background.

Barbara Palvin proves that striking silhouettes can equal simple elegance wearing an Armani Prive Fall 2018 strapless dress.

Bianca Balti Dolce & Gabbana Venice Film Festival

Bianca Balti wasted no time in presenting the first look from the Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda Fall 2021 collection to the red carpet.

Phew…there is a lot of dress in this yellow Alta Moda gown.

I can’t say that this type of fabric is my favourite, but I love how she manoeuvred this expansive piece (meaning she wore it, it didn’t wear her) on the red carpet and how she styled the look with Dolce & Gabbana Alta Gioielleria jewels.

Mona Fastvold Alberta Ferretti Venice Film Festival

Jury member Mona Fastvold looked very elegant in her custom Alberta Ferretti white draped column organzine gown.

Lady Eliza Spencer and Lady Amelia Spencer in Alberta Ferretti Venice Film Festival

Two ladies in Alberta Ferretti.

Lady Amelia Spencer opted for more drama in her sequin embroidery black gown, while Lady Eliza Spencer was pretty in pink duchesse satin.

I wish the bustier sat a little bit higher on pink gown.

Sara Sampaio Armani Prive Venice Film Festival

Sara Sampaio and Armani Prive are the Film Festival gift that keeps on giving.

Over the years the model has proved to be a worthy ambassador for the Italian label, and this Fall 2008 gown is no exception.

I love the simple modification of the neckline to create a halter effect.

Armani Prive Fall 2008

I legit thought this was Claire Foy for a split second, but it’s Aitana Sánchez-Gijón who looked radiant wearing an electric blue Armani Prive Spring 2020 gown.

Madisin Rian

The Armani Prive archives continued flourish on this red carpet.

Madisin Rian, the face of Armani Beauty, wore Spring 2005 gown accented with fringe detailing for a dazzling finish.

Serena Rossi Armani Prive Venice Film Festival

Serena Rossi, godmother of the festival, wore a gorgeous Armani Prive Spring 2013 gown, I just wish the yoke was more invisible.

Greta Ferro Armani Prive Venice Film Festival

Greta Ferro is probably my favourite from day one.  The face of Armani Beauty was mesmerizing in this Armani Prive backless dress.

I have a nagging feeling I have seen this before.  It’s similar to the black and red Armani Prive Spring 2019 gown Zendaya wore for the 2019 premiere of ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home.’  But I’m sure we’ve seen this blue version before.

This red carpet was heavily influenced by the Fall season, but Chloe Zhao’s style was very much still celebrating summer, wearing an abstract floral Giorgio Armani dress with shimmering appliques.
