It was another – almost – all black affair on the red carpet for the ‘Tre Piani (Three Floors)’ premiere during the 2021 Cannes Film Festival on Sunday (July 11) in France.
I wasn’t disappointed when I saw Marina Ruy Barbosa wearing this Valentino Fall 2021 sheer black gown.
I was worried how this would translate on the red carpet, especially when sheet gowns are so hit and miss.
But between the net over-and-underlay, the dark red lip, and Chopard emerald jewels, I was totally in love with this outing.
Marina was easily one of my favourites from Sunday night.
Much like Bella Hadid’s gown, Nour Arida’s Jean Paul Gaultier black dress was elevated by Boucheron’s Cape de Lumière which accented her shoulders and neckline, turning a simple column dress into a Cannes worthy look.
Kasia Smutniak wore a strapless Armani Prive black sequin dress which felt like it needed better shoes, or a dynamic choker like Nieves Álvarez.
Subtle Messika diamonds accessorised her look.
Alba Rohrwacher is known for her dynamic style, but she kept things simple and chic in a pleated Christian Dior Fall 2021 Haute Couture gown.
Models are invited to Cannes to bring their own brand of glamour, and Taylor Hill – wearing her second Etro look – was oozing plenty of flamenco flare styling her white cropped shirt with a dramatic brocade asymmetric skirt accented with crystals.
Does anyone else wish the top matched the skirt in terms of fabric? I think this would’ve looked even better with a matching bandeau or cropped bustier.
Messika jewels from the Kate Moss collection completed her look, along with gold sandals.
Margherita Buy looked beautiful wearing this pretty Armani Prive Spring 2021 embellished gown.
Keeping the cape elevated the gracefulness of this look, which was styled with Chopard jewels.
Spike Lee and Tonya Lewis Lee were both in Louis Vuitton last night.
Tonya’s electric blue pleated gown was styled with the Boucheron Holographique necklace which is an unique and stunning piece of jewellery.
