Get The Look: Kate Beckinsale’s 2014 Golden Globes Punk-Inspired Hair Do

Get The Look Kate Beckinsale's 2014 Golden Globes Punk-Inspired Hair Do

Kate Beckinsale brought a gorgeous edge to the Golden Globes – not only in her metallic Zuhair Murad gown, but with her messy side chignon.

What inspired the hair look? “With her wholesome, English rose good looks, Kate can get away with quite a bit of edginess in her hairstyle, so we went with a punk-inspired diva look that’s a bit different from her usual soft flowing waves,” says Sascha Breuer, celebrity hair stylist.

Sascha started by spraying Moroccanoil Root Boost directly onto her damp roots, which quickly adds body, movement, and flexible hold. He used a skeleton brush at first while blow drying, but switched between the brush and his fingers to add texture and more volume. Once her hair was 100% dry, he separated the crown and clipped the top section away.

Focusing on the bottom section, he secured it into a low, side ponytail with an elastic, then coiled it into a bun. He made sure to keep the look imperfect and tugged a few strands out of the bun, causing some tendrils to fall out. He secured with bobby pins then moved back to the top section. Before doing anything, he backcombed the roots with the Moroccanoil Boar Bristle Teasing Brush for bigger volume and a naturally untidy texture. He then secured this section into the existing loose bun with more bobby pins.

Sascha completed Kate’s look with some shine and hold with Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray. His finishing touch tip? Spritz some hairspray onto your fingertips and fuss over single strands to really define them.
