Giorgio Armani’s Academy Museum Gala Menswear
Nine gentlemen joined the eight women wearing Armani at Saturday’s 2026 Academy Museum Gala in Los Angeles. While the womenswear offered plenty of archival treasures and custom creations, the menswear was a more traditional affair, with a few stepping outside the usual black-tie formula.

Blue Velvet
Eddie Redmayne was easily my favourite of the group in Giorgio Armani Fall 2026. That cobalt-blue velvet shirt is glorious, and the overall relaxed silhouette makes this feel more like Eddie’s personal style than an obligatory gala uniform. I’ll be dreaming of that blue velvet hue tonight.

A Lighter Approach
Joseph Zada was another who didn’t feel compelled to wear black. The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping actor’s beige Giorgio Armani double-breasted tuxedo offers a refreshing alternative to the darker looks. What sells this to me is the soft, almost tonal combination and the sharp fit. There’s a certain ease to the tailoring that I find particularly appealing.

Scarf Appeal
Anthony Ippolito was my second favourite after Eddie. I love how the smoking scarf completely changes the mood of his Giorgio Armani tuxedo. That dashing touch, particularly with the relaxed trousers and satin cummerbund, is exactly what I want to see more of. Sometimes it’s the styling, rather than the suit itself, that makes the difference.

Classic Rami
Rami Malek has always been someone I can rely on for classic elegance, and this Giorgio Armani tuxedo is no exception. The wing-collar shirt gives it a traditional eveningwear feel, but it’s the proportions that really appeal to me. He wears this kind of tailoring exceptionally well.

A Touch Of Velvet
This past few weeks has shown me just how well black and brown can work together, particularly when the shades are close enough to create a subtle contrast.
Jaafar Jackson demonstrated that beautifully with his Giorgio Armani velvet tuxedo. Between the interplay of colours, the texture and his Bvlgari High Jewellery Serpenti brooch, featuring emeralds and diamonds, he had more than enough to distinguish himself within this.

Tailoring Done Right
We’re still getting to know Belmont Cameli’s personal style, but from what we’ve seen so far, there’s a rebellious streak. For this occasion, however, he kept things traditional in Giorgio Armani.
When I talk about wanting tailoring to fit perfectly, this is exactly what I mean. The same could be said for everyone in this line-up, but Belmont’s double-breasted tuxedo is a particularly good example of why fit matters.

Slim Pickings
Owen Thiele went for a slimmer silhouette in Giorgio Armani, which immediately distinguishes him from the more relaxed tailoring elsewhere in this group. I like the fit and how he forgoes a bow tie, allowing his jewellery to take centre stage. It’s a small styling decision, but one that makes the look feel more individual.

Midnight Hour
Midnight blue is such a strong colour choice for Daniel Kaluuya, and the double-breasted silhouette works particularly well on his frame. His Giorgio Armani suit is beautifully tailored, although I wish the tie had also been blue.

Back To Basics
Miguel Bernardeau went the smart-casual route in Emporio Armani, accessorised with a Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Monoface ‘Or Deco Solo Tempo’ watch in pink gold.
He looks good, but I can’t help thinking this needed another element to make it occasion-worthy. A Tiffany & Co. Bird on a Rock brooch, for example, would have been a welcome addition.
