Issa Rae In Altuzarra – 7th Annual State Of The Entertainment Industry Conference

Issa Rae In Altuzarra - 7th Annual State Of The Entertainment Industry Conference

Issa Rae wasn’t afraid of pattern at the 7th Annual State Of The Entertainment Industry Conference on Thursday (November 15) in Hollywood, California.

The ‘Insecure’ actress captured the playful spirit of a holiday abroad in an Altuzarra Resort 2019 dress.

There’s no denying the resort mood of the print, but it retains an elegance thanks to the body-skimming silhouette.

Not worrying about seasons, it’s a spirited look that highlights her figure and offers a fun approach to getting dressed.

Issa Rae In Sally LaPointe – 2018 ComplexCon

Issa Rae In Sally LaPointe - 2018 ComplexCon

Issa Rae attended Day 2 of Complex Con at the Long Beach Convention Center on Sunday (November 4) in Long Beach, California.

I love how this Sally LaPointe Resort 2019 look mixes it boxy crop top and tailored proportions for a cool modern look which feels like a smart update on the athleisure wear trend.

Gold accessories amped up the luxe appeal of this look.

Issa Rae In Vera Wang – 2018 Emmy Awards

Issa Rae In Vera Wang - 2018 Emmy Awards

Issa Rae joined her ‘Insecure’ costar Yvonne Orji at the 2018 Emmy Awards on Monday (September 17) in Los Angeles.

I was enchanted by the delicate embellishment juxtaposed against the plunging neckline of her custom Vera Wang ensemble that it took me a second to realise there were trousers.

I always applaud someone who doesn’t default to the traditional gown and I love the interplay of tailored and soft elements in the ensemble.

The thing that brings it down slightly for me is that the tailoring on the pants could be improved, especially in comparison to the construction of the bodice.

Rihanna’s 4th Annual Diamond Ball

Rihanna's 4th Annual Diamond Ball

There were plenty more stars who attended Rihanna’s 4th Annual Diamond Ball benefitting The Clara Lionel Foundation on Thursday (September 13) in New York City.

Teyana Taylor: The singer will always provide a talking point, whether she’s half naked or serving up plenty of drama. It was the latter on this occasion, as she clearly meant business in this formal pinstriped tuxedo dress from Moschino’s Fall 2018 collection. You weren’t fans of how Damaris Lewis presented this look, but does adding the shirt and tie sell the look the second time around.

Donald Glover: Having been part of the Gucci gang for so long, the actor opted for Dior Men Spring 2019 on this occasion. I love the teal-blue shade and the relaxed fit which made him look every inch a modern gent.

Issa Rae: All that glitters was gold for Issa Rae in Valentino Resort 2019. With that much bling you would’ve thought she would skip on the jewelry, but she added a stunning pair of Mateo earrings and gold Stuart Wetizman sandals.

‘The Hate U Give’ Toronto International Film Festival Premiere

'The Hate U Give' Toronto International Film Festival Premiere

There were a number of stars showing the love for ‘The Hate U Give’ premiere on Friday (September 7) during the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival in Canada.

Amandla Stenberg: As the starlet’s style continues to be totally unpredictable, she switched it up again with this Gucci Pre-Fall 2018 gown that was a mash-up of boho-girly floral layers with sultry corset styling. She was swimming in chiffon at the bottom, but I still love how she’s crossing the spectrum and having so much fun with fashion.

Algee Smith: I think it’s safe to say that Algee pulls off this experimental Louis Vuitton Spring 2019 look — and it’s an ‘a’ for effort, regardless. I could have done without the chain necklace.

Issa Rae In Pyer Moss & Sergio Hudson – 2018 CFDA Fashion Awards

Issa Rae hosted the 2018 CFDA Fashion Awards on Monday (June 4) held at the Brooklyn Museum in New York City.

Red Carpet: The ‘Insecure’ star wore sparkly blue jumpsuit made by politically-minded designer Kerby Jean-Raymond for the label Pyer Moss, with a belt inscribed with the message “Every N***a Is a Star”. I love the fantastical nature of bedazzlement, the colour, and the flowing train. At first I wasn’t’ crazy about the drape at the front, it brings a new dimension to standard jumpsuit.

On Stage: The bold boxy suit trend isn’t about to die down anytime soon. Issa rocked hers courtesy of Serigo Hudson. I adore the colour and the shape, but I wish it didn’t come with a belt. Matching Aurora James platforms completed the look.
