Berenice Bejo played it safe on the red carpet at the 2012 Oscars, held in Hollywood this evening.
As predicted ‘The Artist’ actress wore an Elie Saab Spring 2012 Couture gown.
Her mint long sleeve fully embroidered gown with a deep v neckline.
By opting for this mint green colours, she prevents herself being totally washed out had she opted or the runway white.
Swarovski custom-made her clutch to match her dress and she dazzled in Chopard jewels.
Even with all those accessories, I still feel like something is missing to give this look the wow factor.

I hope this the first to many Elie Saab’s tonight. A disappointment.
I know! I want to see more–of all the looks from his Spring Couture collection this is not one I would have chosen. Her hair is not good here either. Overall, a matronly, drab look.
What’s missing:
A better hairstyle
Better posture
Better support you-know-where
Exactly what I was thinking. Even sans support & hairstyle, had she worn it liek Milla Jovovich, she would have looked worlds better.
And the makeup! A nice lipstick with add some much needed color.
Completely agree.
I agree about the hair… and the support … and the posture.
She should have leave this dress to Fan Bing Bing.
i think she has support you know where but she’s just slouching for some reason, it’s weird because we know she can pose
You’re right.
This is a disappointment. Too pale and she needed to do more with her hair.
I love the dress and her accessories but I don’t like how it makes her breast look a bit saggy… She should have gotten a better support. And I’m not a big fan of her hair either. And also I think that the big snoozer for the looks is her posture, she should’ve stood up straight…
She looked better on TV. I agree about the need for more support for her breast. But I love the hair and the color of the dress compared with her hair color.
maybe she needed to wear her hair differently. don’t like the braided updo. the dress, per se, is beautiful.
Much better on the runway. Not amazing.
The dress and hair are rather aging. Not a fan of the perfectly colour-matched clutch either.
BORING – next!
Whats missing ?? > Is a neutral background. Seriously these awards should be doing plain blank screen where the stars can have there pictures taken its to much chaos to see al the people in the background. It ruins the whole look.
She looks stunning! Her Elie Saab is a dazzler! Best dressed! Knockout!
I agree with you. I think this picture does not do justice to the dress and her earrings. I loved her dress and especially those emerald earrings
this girl will never give you a wow cauz she don’t know how to pose, she need to bombs shoulders cauz she just look like she waiting at the checkout of a supermarket
Very disappoint. This is not the way to wear an Elie Saab.
I don’t know… She looked far better on TV and on other pictures
if you don’t surprise and glow in a Elie Saab couture gown , you are in troubles.
she doesnt have class
she cant pull out an elie saab dress
Her posture is horrible
looked better on screen than in pictures. but something is definetely missing plus i hate her earrings. perhaps a better hairstyle something with a little oomph might have made it all look better.
Following Berenice on the red carpet has been such a disappointment for me. She was an effervescent, ethereally charming presence in The Artist, but that simply does not seem to translate offscreen.
She lacks the class, grace and movie star presence to successfully pull off red carpet glamour and ends up looking unimpressive whatever she wears. I never thought that Elie Saab could look downright dowdy, but she manages this feat.
I still don’t understand why she went with this lighter reddish brown hair colour. She looks her best as a full on brunette.
As for the dress, like I said for Milla Jovovich, it’s just not one of Elie’s best efforts.
Thank’s for all the Oscar’s information! I imagine you work all night. I remember you were near to me at Elie Saab Couture show, and we saw Berenice at front row, so was easy thought she woul wear a gown from the brand. Kisses!
I think the hair colour is really off and makes her seem washed out. Yet, I do feel like she looked better on screen.
This pic doesn’t really do her justice because she looked fantastic on TV. Actually she was one of my faves, pure class
Why does she look like she’s suffering or something?
what’s missing: something to give her more shape.
Horrible. One of my worst dressed for the night. Her hair color and hair style are horrible. The color is really bad. The gown looks boring and matronly, mother of the bride at a tacky wedding. Where is her vivacity and sparkle?? This is just such an epic fail, truly disappointing.
Baha! You guys are hilarious! Hyper critical much? Give your heads a shake, she is beautiful! This all makes me think you have spent far too much time taking in fake photoshopped pics to even know what reality is anymore. I just hope she was happy with how she looked, that is what matters.
so basically you are saying that no one is allowed to have an opinion unless it agrees with yours
I think Shailene Woodley could have rocked the runway version (maybe a slight lining to stop underwear flashing in photos).
