Celebrities at the Breakthrough Prize Ceremony
There were many more celebrities joining Anne Hathaway, Zoe Saldana and Gal Gadot at the Breakthrough Prize Ceremony held in Santa Monica on Saturday, offering a mix of high-impact glamour and looks that didn’t quite hit the same note.

Second-Skin Drama
Christina Aguilera delivered exactly what you expect from her on a red carpet like this, stepping out in a Salih Balta Fall 2026 black gown that hugged every curve before dissolving into sheer paneling and a trailing finish. It’s unapologetically body-conscious, with the off-the-shoulder neckline adding a sultry edge, but it’s the confidence that sells it.

Minimal With A Twist
Gigi Hadid opted for a pared-back David Koma white halter gown, elevated by a jewelled detail at the neckline. The silhouette is clean, simple, and crease-free. Knowing everything we know about Gigi’s style, this feels like a shift into something more refined.

Muted Tones, Missed Opportunity
Oscar de la Renta has always been a great brand for Jessica Chastain, but the sandy hue does little for her, washing her out. I can’t say I’m a fan of that straw-like hemline either. I wish this comeback had been in one of her signature jewel tones.

Unexpectedly Flat
This might be the first time I’ve been thoroughly underwhelmed by Lily Collins in Saint Laurent. Between the muted olive tone and the design of the dress, as simple as it is, this feels very flat for someone who usually thrives with sharper direction. I’m already missing her style under Andrew Mukamal.

Familiar Territory
Maria Sharapova wore a Rodarte dress that is instantly recognisable. While it’s undeniably pretty and she wears it well, this silhouette has become so overdone that it’s starting to feel like The Vampire’s Wife Part II. At this point, it’s losing its impact.

Quiet Precision
Michelle Williams delivered one of her signature minimalist moments in this Fforme Fall 2026 black gown, which is understated, but the sculptural neckline and gold accents give it just enough distinction without pushing beyond her comfort zone.

The Bob Is Back
Michelle Yeoh brought back the blonde bob we first saw last year during her press tour for Wicked. She wore a Giorgio Armani suit.

Classic Red-Carpet Energy
Miranda Kerr brought a more traditional red-carpet approach in Nicole + Felicia Spring 2026, clearly enjoying the drama of the voluminous silhouette. It’s the kind of look that invites a twirl, and she leaned into that sense of occasion.
Styled by Jessica Paster.

Leaning Into The Theme
Naomi Watts was one of the few who seemed to tap into the spirit of the event, wearing a Prada dress with a digital graphic print and a signature embellished collar. There’s a conceptual edge here that feels in tune with the science-driven event.
Styled by Jeanne Williams.

Boho Revisited
Olivia Wilde leaned back into her bohemian instincts with an Erdem Fall 2026 look. The off-the-shoulder corset paired with the full printed skirt feels romantic, if slightly familiar territory for her.
Styled by Karla Welch.

A Fresh Styling Chapter
Salma Hayek, now working with Jason Bolden, wore custom Gucci, and I’m excited about this union, as many have been unable to unlock red-carpet consistency with Salma. The black gown, with its intricate embellishment and modest – for Salma – neckline, strikes a confident note while maintaining her signature glamour.
