2019 National Board Of Review Annual Awards Gala Red Carpet Roundup

Fashion Blogger Catherine Kallon features 2019 National Board Of Review Annual Awards Gala Red Carpet Roundup

There were a myriad of looks at the 2019 National Board Of Review Annual Awards Gala on Tuesday (January 8) in New York City. Celebrities joined Olivia Wilde.

Regina King: Breaking from her recent pink outfits, the ‘If Beale Street Could Talk’ actress wore a speckled Zac Posen gown which had a pattern that mimicked falling snow. The frilled bodice plays off the diagonal seaming.

Maggie Gyllenhaal: ‘The Kindergarten Teacher’ actress kept things understated in a neutral A.W.A.K.E. Spring 2019 dress. The earrings help enliven it but I would have chosen a different shoe.

Sophia Bush: Oozing Old Hollywood glamour, the actress was outfitted in a Zac Posen dress. This material is notorious for creasing and puckering so I commend the chic, liquid finish.

2018 Governors Awards

2018 Governors Awards

The 2018 Governors Awards on Sunday (November 18) in Hollywood, California were a star-studded affair. Lovely ladies joined Rosamund Pike and Lupita Nyong’o.

Emily Blunt: The ‘Mary Poppins Returns’ actress glimmered in a custom Dundas top and skirt with Jimmy Choo shoes and David Yurman jewels. Despite the plethora of crop tops we have seen, this sharp-shouldered style held my attention thanks to the luxurious mix of metallics.

Gemma Chan: The flowing shape of the ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ star’s Stella McCartney ensemble was accented with the pleated shoulder detail. The finishing touches and wrinkles bring it down slightly.

Amy Adams: She lightened up in a whimsical Schiaparelli gown. The refined silhouette balances the girlish pink tones and heart detail. A crushed velvet Tyler Ellis clutch brought in more feminine charm.

Michelle Yeoh In Armani Privé – ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ LA Premiere

Michelle Yeoh In Armani Privé - ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ LA Premiere

Michelle Yeoh was back on the red carpet for the premiere of ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ on Tuesday (August 7) in Hollywood, California.

I’m sure you’ll agree that Michelle’s Armani Prive Fall 2017 dress was the right choice for her. Super sleek and sophisticated.

However, I wasn’t so enamored by the hair.

Between the rockabilly quiff to the pageant ponytail, it didn’t seem fit the glamorous nature of her dress.

amfAR Hong Kong Gala Red Carpet Roundup

amfAR Hong Kong Gala Red Carpet Roundup

A host of stars joined Gwyneth Paltrow, Victoria Beckham and Carina Lau for the 2015 amfAR Hong Kong Gala held at Shaw Studios on Saturday (March 14) in Hong Kong.

Naomi Campbell: The model also wore a Marc Jacobs Fall 2015 look, selecting a burgundy crepe de chine gown with nail head detailing which she styled with a black and red Christian Louboutin clutch and Harry Winston jewels. I really love the rich Bollywood vibe I am getting from this look, but I can’t say I’m too fond of the styling.

Kate Moss: Decked out in Harry Winston jewels, the model wore a Marc Jacobs black silk tulle dress with sequin detailing from the Fall 2015 collection, which she styled with a feathered rather than a fur accessory.

Michelle Yeoh In Elie Saab – 61st San Sebastian Film Festival

Michelle Yeoh In Elie Saab - 61st San Sebastian Film Festival

Michelle Yeoh was present for the Inauguration Gala of the 61st San Sebastian Film Festival at the Kursaal Palace on Friday in San Sebastian, Spain.

She wore a gold skater dress with embroidered guipure on the bodice and skirt from Elie Saab’s Fall 2012 Couture collection, styled with navy peep-toes with the same gold embroidery.

The very next day she wore yet another Elie Saab dress with a similar silhouette to the premiere of ‘Final Recipe’ at the San Sebastian Film Festival, this time teaming the look with matching blush peep-toes and a white wrap-around bracelet.

There are as many similarities as there are differences to this dress, but I think Michelle should’ve tried a different colour and silhouette, and possibly a dress without embellishments, for her second look.

To the untrained eye it may even appear she was wearing the same dress.

Michelle Yeoh In Elie Saab Couture – 7th Asian Film Awards

Michelle Yeoh In Elie Saab Couture - 7th Asian Film Awards

Michelle Yeoh’s second red carpet outing in as many days saw her grace the red carpet at the 7th Asian Film Awards in Hong Kong, China this evening.

Looking much more like her elegant self, the legendary actress wore an Elie Saab Fall 2012 Couture gown.

Her printed gown with a rich gold-lace-embroidered bodice was styled with a gold clutch and silver jewels.

I’m trying to overlook the silver jewels – my preference would’ve been gold – but if I put my finger over the clutch, the silver jewels do surprisingly work for me with the gold embroidery.

Simple makeup and a chic chignon completed her look.

Does anyone prefer the Valentino dress over this Elie Saab Couture look?

Michelle Yeoh In Valentino – 7th Asian Film Awards Cocktail Party

Michelle Yeoh In Valentino - 7th Asian Film Awards Cocktail Party

Michelle Yeoh took to the red carpet for the 7th Asian Film Awards cocktail party ahead of the main event held at Grand Hyatt Hotel in Hong Kong on Sunday.

She wore a Valentino Resort 2013 floral embroidered short-sleeved dress.

Not for the first time in the last week have I felt that this Valentino dress would’ve worked better on one of the teen stars of Hollywood.

I love the dress but it feels too twee for someone of Michelle’s stature, especially when you factor in that pink bow accent.

Jimmy Choo sandals and a Jimmy Choo ‘Tube’ clutch completed her look.

Do you agree? Is this dress too twee for Michelle?
