2019 BAFTAs Menswear Roundup

2019 BAFTAs Menswear Roundup

We cannot forget about the men’s striking looks at the 2019 BAFTAs on Sunday (February 10) in London, England.

Timothee Chalamet: Ever the fashion darling, I expected nothing less than for the ‘Beautiful Boy’ actor to make a statement. The clashing patterns and cropped trousers of his Haider Ackermann Fall 2019 look was fun-meets-punk.

Mahershala Ali: The ‘Green Book’ actor looked suave in Tom Ford. The textured brocade made the classic monochromatic colours something special.

Lakeith Stanfield: Outfitted in Saint Laurent, the Rising Star nominee demonstrated his sartorial skills. The black velvet shoes with plush jacket bring things together without becoming too matchy-matchy.

Spotify’s Best New Artist Party

Fashion Blogger Catherine Kallon Features Spotify's Best New Artist Party

Celebrities joined Dua Lipa and Rita Ora at Spotify’s Best New Artist party at the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles, California on Thursday (February 7).

Hailee Steinfeld: The singer-actress had a sweet 1980s moment in Paule Ka Spring 2019. Despite the obvious retro leanings, she carries it off in a youthful way with her sleek hair and oxblood red pumps. Cutesy accessories would have likely been overkill.

Zoe Saldana In Saint Laurent – amfAR Mexico City Gala 2019

Fashion Blogger Catherine Kallon features Zoe Saldana In Saint Laurent - amfAR Mexico City Gala 2019

Zoe Saldana attended the amfAR gala dinner at the house of collector and museum patron Eugenio López on Tuesday (February 5) in Mexico City.

The gorgeous actress brought vintage noir into the present wearing a Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello luxe velvet gown.

I have a feeling that even without the fringe detailing that this look would’ve grabbed my attention, but that’s mostly down to the fact the Zoe has an uncanny knack of making even the simplest designs so very appealing.

Gal Gadot In Saint Laurent – Premiere Of TNT’s ‘I Am The Night’

Fashion Blogger Catherine Kallon features Gal Gadot In Saint Laurent - Premiere Of TNT's 'I Am The Night'

Gal Gadot was on hand to support her ‘Wonder Woman’ director Patty Jenkins, for the premiere of TNT’s ‘I Am The Night’ on Thursday (January 24) in Los Angeles, California.

The Israeli actress was elegance personified presenting herself as a caped crusader in Saint Laurent.

Her Spring 2019 look has a bit of masculine edge present in the crisp tailored lines and sweeping length, but is soften by the sheer blouse and sassy sandals.

Anya Taylor-Joy In Saint Laurent – ‘Glass’ London Premiere

Fashion Blogger Catherine Kallon features Anya Taylor-Joy In Saint Laurent - 'Glass' London Premiere

Anya Taylor-Joy was in great spirits as she made her way down the red carpet in London on Wednesday (January 9) for the all-new comic-book thriller ‘Glass’.

The English-Argentine actress has never been one to shy away from a theme.

On this occasion, judging by the headband and Charleston dance, it looks like she was channeling 1920s opulence and glamour in Saint Laurent.

I won’t argue with anyone who feels that the headband took this into costumey territory, but I love the energy and playfulness Anya brought to this look.

Amazon Prime Video’s Golden Globe Awards After Party

Fashion Blogger Catherine Kallon features Amazon Prime Video's Golden Globe Awards After-Party

Amazon Prime Video’s Golden Globe Awards After Party was held at The Beverly Hilton Hotel on Sunday (January 6) in Beverly Hills, California.

Ashley Tisdale: With the only pop of colour coming from her newly dyed pink hair, I love the level of sophistication oozing from this look and those Dannijo earrings.

Heidi Klum: My mother always said, “never take the lord’s name in vain”, but by god this is a mess. What a drop down from the main event.  How do I unsee this?

Emmy Rossum: Thankfully Emmy was on hand to cleanse my eyes wearing a gorgeous J. Mendel gown. I would’ve loved a red lip here.

2019 Golden Globe Awards Menswear Roundup

2019 Golden Globe Awards Menswear Roundup2

There were plenty of menfolk on the red carpet at the 2019 Golden Globe Awards on Sunday (January 6) in Beverly Hills, California, and I was delighted by the diversity of looks they offered up.

Ben Whishaw: Nominated for ‘A Very English Scandal,’ the actor was looking very fine in his Alexander McQueen embroidered suit styled so crisply with the dress shirt that you didn’t even miss the tie.

Stephan James: The ‘Homecoming’ star and nominee couldn’t have looked more dapper if he tried in this impeccably tailored Ralph Lauren Purple Label velvet suit styled supremely well with a Swarovski Odysseia pendant, Chopard timepiece, cufflinks and Christian Louboutin ‘Alpha Male’ toe-cap loafers.

Luke Evans: Also wearing an Alexander McQueen ensemble, Luke went for a slightly more traditional mood in his formal white dinner jacket with black lapels.

Hailee Steinfeld’s ‘Bumblebee’ Promo Tour

Fashion Blogger Catherine Kallon Features Hailee Steinfeld's 'Bumblebee' Promo Tour Saint Laurent Fall 2018

Hailee Steinfeld has been busy with the ‘Bumblebee’ promotional tour over the last week.

‘Bumblebee’ Beijing Premiere: She kicked things off on Friday (December 14) in Saint Laurent Fall 2018. The colour is very much in her wheelhouse. It’s the playful swirling details on the mini that make it special. She has cleverly echoed the movement with her topknot. The glitter-toe heels increase the fun rock ‘n’ roll sentiment without taking away from the sculptural detail.

Miley Cyrus & Mark Ronson In Saint Laurent – SNL

Fashion Blogger Catherine Kallon features Miley Cyrus & Mark Ronson In Saint Laurent - SNL

Miley Cyrus and Mark Ronson were the musical guests on the Christmas episode of ‘SNL.’ They performed in high style on the show on Saturday (December 15) in New York City.

Mark Ronson: He emitted the cool rock ‘n’ roll style of the brand in Saint Laurent Spring 2019. The record producer carried off the shimmering jacket in a suave way with the black shirt and skinny trousers. His more minimalist approach to accessorizing worked in his favour.

Miley Cyrus: We never really know what we’re going to get with the singer. This Saint Laurent Fall 2018 look could herald a new direction. The bold glamour of the sharp-shouldered style brings to mind some of her recent outfits and there’s no denying the rocking undercurrent. She softened it slightly with the red shoes, but it’s still present.

Saint Laurent Presents ‘Belle de Jour’

Fashion Blogger Fashion Critic features Saint Laurent Presents 'Belle de Jour'Saint Laurent Presents 'Belle de Jour'

Saint Laurent celebrated the 50th anniversary of the film ‘Belle de Jour’ with a screening hosted by creative director Anthony Vaccarello and Catherine Deneuve at The Museum of Modern Art in New York City on Wednesday (December 19), with Chloë Sevigny and Leigh Lezark in attendance.

The evening commemorated the historic ties between the Yves Saint Laurent Maison and the film, and honoured the present relationship between Catherine Deneuve and Anthony Vaccarello.

Catherine Deneuve: We’ve associated Catherine with another French brand for so long, that I’m intrigued to see how the new fashion union plays out in the future. From the jump, I’m very impressed by this sleek menswear inspired look featuring the signature embellished lapels. As we all know Saint Laurent heavily focuses on minis, so I’m assuming suiting and custom looks will make up the majority of Catherine’s red carpet looks going forward.

Chloë Sevigny: The actress was rocking a style that exudes Saint Laurent’s Parisian sensuality, while channeling her own.

Leigh Lezark: As far as suiting goes, this felt a bit bare. It’s missing a bit of M&S. Magic and sparkle.

Roger Vivier Toasts Gherardo Felloni

Fashion Blogger Catherine Kallon features Roger Vivier #HotelVivier Experience

Roger Vivier hosted an event to celebrate the new Creative Director, Gherardo Felloni on Wednesday (December 12) in New York City, with a special evening and experience at Hotel Vivier.

Dianna Agron: This vintage Yves Saint Laurent dress might be a classic yet it feels contemporary with its mid-length and beguiling dark florals. The ‘Glee’ actress styled her look perfectly with Roger Vivier’s ‘Trianon’ clutch and ‘Viv Bling’ platform sandals.

Chanel Iman: The model also selected Roger Vivier’s ‘Viv Bling’ sandals worn with a mesh dress that I didn’t feel needed the padded shoulders.

Coco Rocha: The one person you didn’t expect to play it safely in the accessories deparment was Coco Rocha. It was almost expected that this look required a black clutch, but a pop of pink via her Roger Vivier ‘Broche Vivier’ drape clutch added to the cheery vibe imbued by the bold stripes. Roger Vivier ‘Lavalliere’ strass pumps completed her look.

‘Mary Poppins Returns’ LA Premiere

‘Mary Poppins Returns’ LA Premiere

A host more stars joined Emily Blunt, Karen Gillan and Emily Mortimer for the premiere of ‘Mary Poppins Returns’ on Thursday (November 29) in Los Angeles, California.

Jordana Brewster: The actress kept things simple and chic in a Co Resort 2019 look styled with a signature Bottega Veneta clutch. Some might say it doesn’t really feel like a premiere look, but this wasn’t her premiere.

Katherine McNamara: The actress wore a second black embellished mini from Saint Laurent’s Fall 2017 collection. While I liked the first one, this one doesn’t have the same amount of charm, and feels a little force. Hopefully she opts to mix things up going down the line. Because this could get real tired, really quickly.

Meg Donnelly: I love the colour and detail of her Kalmanovich Spring 2019 look. The vibrancy is everything I would expect from a Disney premiere.
