2019 BAFTAs Red Carpet Roundup

There was an abundance of elegance at the 2019 BAFTAs on Sunday (February 10) at the Royal Albert Hall in London.

Amy Adams: The Best Supporting Actress nominee struck a pose in a merlot Prada gown. Removing the belt and brooch would have allowed the statement shoulders and rich colour to shine.

Salma Hayek: Wearing Gucci with a Gucci headpiece, she demonstrated her flare for fashion and showed the brand can still make a statement without its typical clash of colours and patterns. Boucheron jewels complete her look.

The Charles Finch & Chanel Pre-BAFTA’s Dinner

Fashion Blogger Catherine Kallon features The Charles Finch & Chanel Pre-BAFTA's Dinner

As we all know, Grammy weekend is also BAFTA weekend.  Which means as soon as our BAFTA coverage concludes, we go straight into the Grammys this evening.

Charles Finch and Chanel hosted their annual pre-BAFTA’s dinner at Loulou’s on Saturday (February 9) in London.

Regina King: While most wore Chanel, Regina King opted for Giorgio Armani. Does that mean she doesn’t suit Chanel? No, she just opted to showed her individuality in this Fall 2017 top and colour-block ball skirt. I can’t wait to see what she wears tonight.

Margot Robbie: The Chanel brand ambassador was always going to wear a look from the most recent collection. Her Chanel Spring 2019 Haute Couture look is elegant enough, but at the same time, it’s not exactly a memorable piece.

2018 LACMA Art + Film Gala

2018 LACMA Art + Film Gala

There was plenty more glamour on display on the red carpet at the 2018 LACMA Art + Film Gala on Saturday (November 3) in Los Angeles, California, joining Kiki Layne, Zoe Kravitz and Rowan Blanchard.

Dakota Johnson: I know sheer yokes aren’t favoured by most, but this Gucci look could’ve translated as too heavy and gothic-like for Dakota without it.

Salma Hayek: Seeing Salma in this Gucci gold gown, it’s feels like it would’ve been perfect for the ’80s soap Dynasty. The jewel play their part too.

Salma Hayek in Gucci – Vanity Fair Personality Of The Year Gala

Salma Hayek in Gucci - Vanity Fair Personality Of The Year Gala

Salma Hayek joined Penelope Cruz and Nieves Alvarez at the Vanity Fair Personality Of The Year Gala in Madrid, Spain on Wednesday (September 26).

The actress showed her support for Gucci once again, this time wearing a flower bedazzled black gown.

She has a knack for choosing pieces which capture the brand’s whimsy aesthetic but still feel authentic to her alluring style.

And she knows how to select the right gown to showcase her curves. Even with the long sleeves and maxi length, it still presents a very feminine silhouette.

What do you think?

‘The Hummingbird Project’ Toronto International Film Festival Premiere

'The Hummingbird Project' Toronto International Film Festival Premiere

Alexander Skarsgård, Salma Hayek and Jesse Eisenberg attended ‘The Hummingbird Project’ premiere during 2018 Toronto International Film Festival on Saturday (September 8) in Canada.

Alexander Skarsgård: If you haven’t noticed Dior Men appears to be the preferred choice during this festival. When I see Alexander in this suit I have ask myself “is there anything more appealing than a midnight blue suit?” Certainly not when Dior Men is your tailor. The two button notch lapel suit is cut to the fashion house’s classic fit for a timeless profile.

Salma Hayek: Adding a bit (well a lot) of spice to this red carpet, the actress wore an Alexander McQueen Resort 2019 tiered silk knit dress with cascading lace ruffles adding impact to the silhouette-enhancing finish.

Jesse Eisenberg: The actor opted black on black on black in you guessed it…Dior Men.

Salma Hayek Pinault In Gucci – Franca Sozzani Award

Salma Hayek Pinault In Gucci - Venice Film Festival

Salma Hayek Pinault attended an event during Venice Film Festival, which saw her collect the Franca Sozzani Award for her work with UNICEF, Mothers2Mothers, Chime for Change, and the Kering Foundation, on Friday (August 31) Italy.

The actress wore a custom Gucci pink, blue and green flower embroidered lurex jacquard gown inspired by the Resort 2019 collection.

If you’re wondering where the bow is, it’s located at the back.

I have always maintained that custom Gucci is when Salma is at her very best, this gown does nothing to disprove that.

Front Row @ Gucci Resort 2019

The Gucci Cruise 2019 fashion show took place at the Promenade des Alyscamps in Arles, France on Wednesday (May 30), which saw a host of their official ambassadors and champions of the brand take their front row seats.

Salma Hayek Pinault: I have always maintained that I haven’t been a fan of runway Gucci for Salma, but this custom Gucci Prince Of Wales peak lapel suit I’m fully on board with. I adore the girlie touches such as the pink velvet trims and lace shirt with crystal detailing. I can’t say I’m a fan of the pink ‘Sylvie’ mini bag though. It feels like something Paris Hilton would wear.

Li Yuchun aka Chris Lee: After her successful outing at Cannes, the Asian performer wore a Gucci Fall 2018 look with an Americana touch thanks to the embroidered NY Yankees ™ applique. I know some of you aren’t fans of logo heavy looks, but I feel Li Yuchun pulls off the GG canvas shorts with relaxed ease without coming across as a logo maniac.

Soko: I have a feeling clown comparisons will be made when it comes to Soko’s Gucci Spring 2018 Elton John inspired yellow and black oversized check suit. If anyone has the personality to pull this off, it’s Soko.

Kering x Cannes Dinner Red Carpet Roundup

Black appeared to be the favourite colour of the evening at the Kering x Cannes dinner during the 2018 Cannes Film Festival on Sunday (May 13). Celebrities joined Cate BlanchettChloë Sevigny and Kristen Stewart.

Salma Hayek Pinault: She didn’t get the black memo. Instead, she had a captivating moment in custom Gucci. It has a whimsical feel with the lace accents and accessories, but it still has an alluring finish. It would have been just as magical without the necklace.

Li Yuchun: Another one who plays by her own rule book, the singer demonstrated her sartorial skills in Gucci. The cognac trousers were a departure from her typical tailored black, but they offered a fresh take against the prim jacket and collared shirt.

‘Girls Of The Sun (Les Filles Du Soleil)’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere Red Carpet Roundup

There were plenty more ladies who joined Cate Blanchett, Helen Mirren, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Araya A. Hargate and many more on the red carpet for the premiere of ‘Girls Of The Sun (Les Filles Du Soleil)’ during Cannes Film Festival this evening (May 12).

Kendall Jenner: Someone please set up a Go Fund Me page for Kendall Jenner, the poor girl left LA without a single bra. I jest of course, but I’m getting tired of photo shopping her nipples out of the picture. The model wore a heavenly Schiaparelli Fall 2017Haute Couture tulle gown embroidered with polka dots plus a trompe l’oeil belt.  The look was styled with Chopard jewels.

Golshifteh Farahani: The Iranian actress wore a Chanel Spring 2016 Haute Couture gown which I love for the shimmering fabrication and delicate embellishments. On this occasion the necklace doesn’t overwhelm the look.

Gucci Wooster SoHo Opening

On Saturday (May 5), Gucci hosted a private event to celebrate Gucci Wooster, its first ever presence in SoHo, New York. The celebration saw many stylish attendees bring out bold looks for the occasion.

Rihanna: The singer never falls to come up with inventive combinations and this was no exception. She used the opportunity to showcase a top and bra from her Savage x Fenty lingerie line by styling it with Gucci Fall 2018. There are a multitude of references but the cool mash-up is unmistakably her.

Jared Leto: As a lover of head-turning looks and as someone who has openly embraced Gucci’s more-is-more aesthetic, he showed his fashion-forward credentials in Fall 2018. It’s loud, colourful, zany and you cannot help but grin when you see it.

Salma Hayek In Altuzarra – 2018 Met Gala

Salma Hayek brought an idyllic form of utopia to the 2018 Met Gala on Monday (May 7) in New York City.

Her custom Altuzarra sequin-embroidered dress had a beautiful, painterly quality that depicted the biblical Garden of Eden.

Thus, it offered a different variation on the night’s heavenly theme. And, for that, it was a delightful change of pace to the evening’s fashion lineup.

7th Biennial UNICEF Ball

A trio of ladies turned out for the 7th Biennial UNICEF Ball was held on Saturday (April 14) in Beverly Hills, California.

Alyssa Milano: While I do think the actress introduced an element of glamour with her all-over sequined Landero gown and classic-red lip, I was missing a bit more definition through the waistline to further enhance the proportions of the dress.

Salma Hayek: The royal-purple hue of this Gucci gown was beguiling, with the belt enhancing the ruched waistline. However, the dress may have suffered in execution across the bust line with her bra situation—and I do wish her hair was worn off her shoulders to further celebrate the embellishment.

Molly Sims: Literally bringing the star power to the evening, the model-actress sparkled in a Rani Zakhem Fall 2017 Couture gown. While the star motif may have been a bit trite, my bigger issue with the look was that the sheer sleeves seemed a bit too droopy and I was left wishing for a sleeker finish.
