Julia Roberts joined Ayo Edebiri on the red carpet for the London Film Festival premiere of their new film, After The Hunt.

We all know the actress’s history with tailored suits, but this Bottega Veneta look doesn’t quite come together.

On paper, the outfit is quintessential Julia: a crisp white shirt, pearls, and an oversized black suit. It should work as an understated, confident statement. But in practice, the proportions overwhelm her frame. The jacket’s slouchy cut and the high-waisted, wide-leg trousers swallow her silhouette, giving the ensemble a heavy, borrowed feel — but not in the effortlessly cool way we’ve come to expect.

Bottega’s signature relaxed tailoring relies on balance, but here it’s missing that sharpness and fluidity that usually define their suiting.

Then there’s the hair. While her soft waves are undeniably her trademark, a sleeker, pulled-back style would’ve worked better for me.

Julia has the kind of charisma that makes even simple outfits feel special, but this isn’t one of them. It lacks the proportion and poise we usually associate with her red-carpet appearances — she looks comfortable, but not elevated.
