Celebrities at the 2025 Toronto Film Festival

Toronto Film Festival may not come with the theatrics of Cannes or the spectacle of Venice, but that’s what I love about it. The red carpet here has its own rhythm—less about grandeur, more about personality. And this year’s premieres have offered plenty of both, from Old Hollywood throwbacks to bold risks that only certain stars could pull off. Here are the looks that stood out to me at TIFF 2025.

Poetic License Premiere

Maude Apatow was among the early-adopter celebrities who embraced the archival trend. Her Valentino pink satin dress with its feather-trimmed capelet may be Resort 2026, but it channels 1940s silver-screen allure. I can almost picture Jean Harlow sweeping into a scene wearing this.

I adore this shade of green against Erin Kellyman’s red curls—it’s giving me all the warm autumnal feels. That said, I can’t help wishing her Loewe Fall 2025 dress had a bit more length to it. And while I’ve never been as firmly anti-Loewe Toy pumps as many of you, I have to admit they don’t quite land with this look.

Fuze Premiere

We know a Gugu Mbatha-Raw dress when we see one, and this red Huishan Zhang Gardenia ruffled tiered gown is exactly that. I just wish the black Manolo Blahnik Nadira pumps weren’t so visible beneath the dress.

Wake Up Man: A Knives Out Mystery Premiere

Cailee Spaeny seems to be leaving her Miu Miu phase behind and testing a boho mood with this white floral Chloé look. Lace embroidery, ruffles, layers—it’s a lot. I don’t feel she’s swallowed by it, which was often the case before, thanks to this being a two-piece, but what do you think? The look was styled with Chloé Chateau Treasures and Elixir necklaces.

Mila Kunis wore Rhea Costa, and honestly, this is exactly the type of dress we all would’ve picked for her. Easy, minimal, laidback—the kind of thing that makes sense for her personal style DNA.

Kerry Washington, meanwhile, was glowing in Zuhair Murad. The white draped gown was a dream, but I found myself distracted by the darker lip. I craved something softer with this gown.

Eternity Premiere

Elizabeth Olsen hasn’t been on the red carpet radar that much lately, so her shimmering Emilia Wickstead black halter gown felt like a welcome reintroduction.

Emily Blunt, fresh off a BDOTW win, switched gears in Stella McCartney. I wish I loved this. The trousers? Cool. The halter top with lace keyhole panels? Not my favourite silhouette on her to put it as nicely as I can.

Hedda Premiere

Nia DaCosta was breathtaking in Zimmermann. A velvet-sheen jersey gown with goddess-like fluidity—it’s one of those rare moments where design, texture, and presence all align.

Samara Weaving made a case for the peeking-bra trend’s return in a bold red David Koma gown. Risky, but it paid off.

Sacrifice Premiere

Charli XCX wore Saint Laurent, and while it might feel out of place on someone else at TIFF, she thrives on bending the rules. On her, it works.

Motor City Premiere

Shailene Woodley wore a Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2025 rhinestone embroidery. She divided opinions at Venice, and this look will probably keep that debate alive.
