Andra Day Wore Aliétte & Chanel To The ESSENCE Black Women in Hollywood Awards

Andra Day was one of the performers at the ESSENCE Black Women in Hollywood Awards, so like Storm Reid, Andra wore two looks for the event.
The first was a gorgeous Aliétte custom gown which for me is easily her best look from this rather lackluster awards season from the actress.
I love how this dress offers a masterclass in draping, as I can picture the designer Jason Rembert’s creative approach of asymmetrical wrapping swathes of chainmail knit delicately around a mannequin as part of the conceptual development of the sensual silhouette.
The finished piece refers back to that moment of inception as it appears effortlessly natural, highlighting its draped quality with gathered details.
This was a huge win for Andra.
Casadei ‘Blade’ sandals completed her look.

Her second look from Chanel’s Pre-Fall 2021 collection is beautiful, even if a heavy knit dress for Spring at this event doesn’t quite make sense to me.
