Alice Diop Wore Louis Vuitton To The 2023 Venice Film Festival Opening Ceremony

Alice Diop joined her fellow jury members for the 2023 Venice Film Festival opening ceremony this evening (August 30).

The French filmmaker, who has a Best First Feature Film César Award for ‘Saint Omer’ under her belt, wore a custom Louis Vuitton pleated gown for the occasion.

This sandy hue is gorgeous against her skin, and I love how this also sets the tone for her makeup.

You may recognise the draped half-moon collar, because there was a similar feature on Julianne Moore’s Louis Vuitton gown worn during the 2023 Cannes Film Festival.

I definitely prefer this feature as a collar rather than shoulder pads, which had a sci-fi feel on Julianne.

If I was to nit-pick, I would say that I wonder why the designer opted for a contrasting colour, especially one as heavy as black for the side panels.

I wish a tonal colour would’ve been considered, but it doesn’t dampen my enthusiasm for this look.  

Custom Louis Vuitton black satin sandals and a selection of diamond and emerald jewels completed her look.
