2022 Goya Awards Red Carpet Roundup
Here is a roundup from the 2022 Goya Awards held at the Palau de les Arts in Valencia, Spain on Saturday (February 12), which is our second awards season ceremony (if you’re counting the 2022 BRIT Awards).
Goya Toledo is three time award-winning actress at this event.
She has been loyal to Elie Saab for what feels like decades at this point, and the fashion union has always been a great one.
But for someone who has the keys to the Elie Saab entire archive, I was very underwhelmed by this Fall 2021 Haute Couture gown.
Both in terms of colour, which feels a bit drab for this event, and style, which for me is incredibly dated.
Juana Acosta was oozing quiet elegance wearing an Oscar de la Renta Pre-Fall 2022 off-the-shoulder dress styled with Cartier jewels.
Was this a little muted by Juana’s usual standards at this event?
I would say yes, but that doesn’t prevent this from being one of the best looks of the night.
Veronica Echegui wore the Christian Dior Resort 2022 diaphanous gown which has previously been on Rosamund Pike for ‘The Wheel Of Time’ London premiere.
I think it’s safe to say from this outing that what we thought was a headpiece on Rosamund, is clearly a hood, so wearing it up is more elegant than having extra fabric draping from your shoulders.
We have another re-run from Najwa Nimri who wore the same Givenchy Fall 2021 dress Saweetie wore when she attended the 2021 MTV EMAs.
Najwa’s styling was inspired by the runway in selecting the bold shouldered blazer.
Was this better the second time around?
There were more reruns to be had as Belen Cuesta wore the same Carolina Herrera Spring 2022 tulle, tiered gown which Rachel Zegler wore to the 2021 American Music Awards.
Belen styled her look with jewels from Chaumet.
Should she have added more drama to her look with the runway earrings?
Barbara Lennie’s Gucci pleated silk-cady and lamé gown from the Fall 2021 collection should be recognisable to you, as Lou Doillon wore it first to the ‘Annette’ Cannes Film Festival premiere back in July.
Both ladies have the carefree boho spirit which helps them sell this look to me.
You might be looking at Inma Cuesta in this cut-out black dress and think that she’s wearing Olivia Rodrigo’s Saint Laurent dress, but she’s wearing a similar cleavage enhancing dress from Pedro del Hierro.
I have a feeling that this style will be better received on account of it not feeling like a wardrobe malfunction waiting to happen.
Michelle Jenner let her Carolina Herrera ruffled sequinned tulle and chiffon gown do all the talking.
Is anyone else missing a bold hip here?
El Hammani Mine served up modest and crisp, clean elegance in Fendi Spring 2022.
There were many black dresses on this red carpet, but none stood out more than Yedet’s Ze GarcÃa Atelier rose accented look.
It looks like velvet season is not over just yet as Belén Rueda seduced me in this Valenzuela Atelier jumpsuit which I adore for the luxe fabric, and the dramatic train.
With Aquazzura sandals, Yliana Yepez clutch and Del Páramo jewels, this was one of my favourites of the night.
Marta Nieto’s Giambattista Valli dress didn’t quite work for me.
I wish the embellished belt hadn’t dominated the look.
What I did love was the blood red Jimmy Choo clutch and matching lip prevented this from being a total wash out.
Aitana Sanchez-Gijon looked ever so glamorous in her Roberto Diz gown styled with Cartier jewels.
As did Paula Echevarria in her fan-pleated Andrew Pocrid gown styled with jewels from Del Páramo.
