2020 Emmy Awards Red Carpet Roundup

Here is a roundup of a few other virtual 2020 Emmy Awards attendees that caught my eye on Instagram on Sunday (September 20).

Cynthia Erivo:  It’s not often we see the British actress in a short dress.  Her red carpet M.O. for awards season 2020 was, the bigger the better, the bolder with a gown spanning the width for every red carpet event.  She kept things short and sassy on this occasion wearing a look from the Versace Fall 2020 collection.  The purple chiffon dress featuring the bright green Virtus Animalier design which is beautifully embroidered with lustrous Swarovski crystals.  If she’s wearing any of those stunning Versace sandals we’ve seen on the red carpet recently, I’ll be happy.

Issa Rae:  This really made me heart sing.  The ‘Insecure’ actress wore a gorgeous orange hued Sergio Hudson dress, which brings us nicely into pumpkin season. The cut has something of an ode to the ’80s vibe with the bold shoulders, but I’m admiring the sleekness of this look which was styled with Forevermark jewels.

Catherine O’Hara:  The ‘Schitt’s Creek’ actress was looking pretty bad ass in this Valentino Fall 2020 dress and sequin turtleneck combo. Would I have been into this had it been a regular night on the red carpet?  Maybe not, but a switch of the boots for Stuart Weitzman sandals and a clutch for the bag, and she would be event ready. David Yurman jewels completed her look.

Yvonne Orji: The ‘Insecure’ star was definitely red carpet ready in this Azzi & Osta gown. There was glamour at every turn from the red liquid sequins, the ruffled shoulder and the thigh high slit. Christian Louboutin sandals and David Yurman jewels completed her look.

Reese Witherspoon:  The actress was part of Kerry Washington’s Emmy house party.  Reese’s look was more subdued wearing a Louis Vuitton Fall 2020 dress styled with ‘Lune Bleue’ Louis Vuitton High Jewelry Collection pieces.

H.E.R.:  The musician paid a very touching tribute to the Hollywood figures we lost over the past year, Chadwick Boseman, Naya Rivera, Regis Philbin, and Kirk Douglas, during the ‘In Memoriam’ portion of the show. She wore a fuchsia Vera Wang cheongsam, which is inspired by the traditional Chinese dress and features floral chinoiserie designs and a matching pair of trousers. The dress was already electrifying in pink, but I love how the orange piping makes this look truly pop. Giuseppe Zanotti heels and Sheryl Jones hoop earrings completed her look.

Laverne Cox: The actress kept us very entertained with two looks.  She kicked off the Emmys celebrations with E! Entertainment wearing an Azzi & Osta one shoulder magenta crepe dress with same sculptural volumes on the shoulder we saw on Yvonne.

But I much prefer this Kim Kassas Couture jumpsuit mostly for the mix of edgy faux tattoos and sensual sheer panels.  I would love to see more looks in this same mode from Laverne.
