2019 Met Gala Menswear

2019 Met Gala Menswear

From Ezra Miller and Jared Leto’s face-off to Billy Porter’s flight of fancy, the men really impressed at this year’s 2019 Met Gala with their fabulously over-the-top interpretations of the ‘camp’ theme. Here’s a look at more of the guys on the pink carpet yesterday (May 6) in New York City.

Cole Sprouse: Cole was giving us all the ditzy floral and retro vibes we could want in these Ferragamo embroidered pieces.

Omari Hardwick: This custom Dapper Dan x Gucci three-piece embossed suit had something of a decorative, period-style flair mixed with urban edge in the oversized pocket scarf and chain necklace.

Henry Golding: Yes, this bespoke Atelier Versace suit was campy in its crazy colour palette alone, and I was loving every second of it. The dazzling effect of the double-beaded Swarovski crystals created a degradé metallic effect that was like eye candy.

21 Savage: The rapper’s custom Dapper Dan x Gucci look not only boasted plenty of street cred, it had Dapper Dan emblazoned on the back of the jacket to fully represent. Leather pants were the only natural pairing for the black-and-gold ornate jacket.

Mark Ronson: I was getting ’80s prom vibes with this custom Valentino white tux, piped in blue satin. I wish he had chosen something other than those black shoes.

Frank Ocean: This Prada ensemble looked quite hot — literally — as he was all bundled up for some serious chill in this parka overcoat.

Hero Fiennes-Tiffin: The coverall straps of this Salvatore Ferragamo ensemble offered some edgy spirit for the evening together with the skinny bow tie at the neck.

Max Minghella: It’s a navy Prada suit. Enough said.

Taron Egerton: At least this Salvatore Ferragamo dinner jacket had some visual interest with the metallic flecked embellishment.

Idris Elba: This star of Idris’s Atelier Versace suit was the Barocco-printed jacket that featured Swarovski crystal embroidery with a metallic effect. At his side, Sabrina Dhowre also shone brightly in a rose-gold-tone, iconic Atelier Versace chainmail gown enriched with a flowing chiffon train and oversized lace detail on the corset bodice — and matching rose-gold curls, naturally. David Morris jewels completed her look.

Darren Criss: We knew Darren would make us proud on theme night, and this campy, custom Balmain look channeled the Harlequin character — with theatrical, cobalt-blue eye makeup and oxblood lip line only driving home the jester flair.

Richard Madden: Proving that an all-black look can still speak to the spirit of camp, Richard impressed in a Dior Men by Kim Jones Pre-Fall 2019 suit with cropped pants, crossover jacket, and a giant safety pin.

Chiwetel Ejiofor and Frances Aaternir: Although their custom Salvatore Ferragamo looks weren’t exactly matchy-matchy, they fit together well with the feather detail at Chiwetel’s neck subtly echoing Frances’s silver feathered gown.

French Montana: Since May 6 was the first day of Ramadan, he represented with traditional Arabic attire in this custom Dapper Dan + Gucci rose jacquard jalabiya robe with multi-colour lapel and trim paired with Gucci slipper loafers.

Travis Scott: Looking like an action figure come to life, the rapper was ready for pink-carpet combat in a Dior Men by Kim Jones Winter 2019 ensemble alongside Kylie Jenner.

Benedict Cumberbatch: I don’t know what I was expecting from Benedict, but it wasn’t this custom Labassa Woolfe three-piece suit. But, I was a fan of the dandy flair of the all-white moment coupled with the jaunty top hat, rakish cane, and embellished slippers. With fairy-tale romance to match, all emanating from her billowy Roksanda Fall 2019 gown, Sophie Hunter stood at his side.

Stephan James: Can we take a minute to appreciate these Christian Louboutin decorative, metallic boots — and how they correspond with the contrast lapels of this lux Burberry velvet tux styled with Chopard jewels.

Lewis Hamilton: I loved this zig-zaggy Tommy Hilfiger suiting on Lewis — as it was styled supremely well for the night between the diamond-pinned cravat, to the sparkly headband, layered bracelets, and Western boots. Regal and rebellious.

RuPaul: This was certainly RuPaul’s night, and he was there for it — 1,000 percent — in a custom Zaldy New York eye-popping, hot-pink zebra suit and David Webb jewels that can only be described as fierce. Of course, we can’t not notice the giant bow tie and feather boa.
