Chanel’s Sydney Show Draws Margot Robbie, Nicole Kidman and Kylie Minogue
Chanel’s Cruise 2027 show in Sydney brought together three of Australia’s most recognisable faces: Margot Robbie, Nicole Kidman and Kylie Minogue. Beyond their shared nationality and hair colour, the trio have more in common than you might expect.

Margot and Kylie both found fame on Neighbours, albeit two decades apart, and have since developed a friendship. They also appeared in Chanel’s 25 handbag campaign earlier this year.

Nicole’s relationship with Chanel stretches back to her iconic 2004 Chanel No.5 campaign, directed by fellow Australian Baz Luhrmann, who was also in the front row. Meanwhile, Margot was the last Chanel ambassador appointed by Karl Lagerfeld. Both actresses are now part of Matthieu Blazy’s Chanel chapter.

And while their connections to Chanel span different decades, all three arrived at the Sydney show wearing black and white, giving us three interpretations of the house’s most recognisable colour combination.

Sheer Elegance
Margot wore a sheer Chanel Spring 2027 dress, styled with black Chanel accessories. The black-and-white feathered camellia, a recurring accent under Matthieu Blazy, tied in beautifully with her quilted bag and pumps.

A Tailored Affair
I’m glad we had at least one tailored look from this trio, especially with Nicole opting for a Chanel tailcoat. When was the last time we saw a woman wearing a tailcoat on the red carpet?

The white waistcoat is just as interesting, with its distinctly Edwardian feel recalling the formal evening dress of a bygone era. It’s not something we often see in contemporary womenswear, which makes this combination all the more appealing.

But what I love most is how Nicole takes something so traditionally masculine and makes it feel incredibly feminine. And that, for me, is what makes this look so special.

One Accessory Too Many?
There are so many classic Chanel elements in Kylie’s Chanel look, from the quilted bag to those iconic two-tone pumps. Overall, it feels as though Kylie simply selected the pieces from her own wardrobe.

However, I would take a leaf out of Coco Chanel’s book and remove one thing: the leather-and-gold chain belt from her waist. I see the vision in terms of tying together the black bag and two-tone shoes, but the cardigan and pencil skirt already make a lovely combination. For me, the belt is one accessory too many, and I would have preferred a cleaner finish.
