David Corenswet—aka Superman, aka the Man of Steel—joined co-stars Rachel Brosnahan and Nicholas Hoult on the red carpet at the Superman London premiere at Cineworld Leicester Square, and he wasn’t shy about nodding to the character’s legacy.

Wearing a custom dunhill midnight blue velvet double-breasted shawl lapel, David made a bold choice—especially given the ongoing heatwave. But the smooth tailoring and rich tone gave the look a timeless elegance that was perfect for the occasion.

But then came the red bow tie. A move that walks the tightrope between charmingly thematic and ever-so-slightly on the nose. It’s a wink at Clark Kent’s iconic red tie—a detail that’s been consistent across comic book pages and screen portrayals from Christopher Reeve to Brandon Routh to Henry Cavill. That bright red neckwear has always served as a neat visual cue: mild-mannered reporter on the outside, superhero within.

Personally? I would have voted for the red pocket square to carry the reference.
