Damson Idris Wore Tommy Hilfiger To The 2025 Met Gala
Damson Idris didn’t just arrive at the Met Gala—he made a scene. In what might go down as one of the most theatrical entrances of the evening, the British actor pulled up to the Met steps in a real APXGP Formula 1 car, decked out in a custom Tommy Hilfiger race suit and a red, white, and blue Swarovski-crystal-embellished helmet.

For a split second, you’d be forgiven for thinking Lewis Hamilton was back for a second round—but this wasn’t about pole positions, it was about peacocking with purpose.

As two assistants peeled away the race suit like a human pit stop, Damson revealed a full custom Tommy Hilfiger flare tuxedo underneath.

The transformation was instant—suddenly we were off the track and straight into a ‘70s-inspired red carpet fantasy with a modern dandy twist. Sure, the flares could’ve done with a tiny hem lift, but when you’ve just stepped out of an F1 car onto the Met Gala carpet, you’ve earned the extra fabric.

The helmet came off, and the penny dropped: this wasn’t a random stunt, it was a stylish teaser for his upcoming film F1, in which he stars alongside Brad Pitt. Promotional excellence aside, Damson also used the moment to launch his luxury jewellery brand, DIDRIS, with a custom-designed brooch. The piece featured an 11-carat emerald centre stone, framed by 18 special-cut tourmalines and nearly 250 tsavorites. It’s bold, unapologetic, and—like the man himself—made to stand out.
This was how you turn tailoring into theatre.
