Celebrities in Chanel at the 2025 Met Gala
The house of Chanel may be known for its black and white classics, but at the 2025 Met Gala, the fashion maison decided to colour outside the lines—and we’re all the better for it. Dressing five very different women for the Superfine: Tailoring Black Style theme, Chanel’s offerings this year had a little something for everyone: high drama, vintage nods, sharp tailoring, and a dose of unexpected rebellion.

When the tailoring is sharp, but the eyebrows are sharper
Let’s start with the real miracle of the evening: Lupita Nyong’o in colour. I was genuinely starting to wonder if Chanel had a black-and-white contract clause for her, but hope has been restored with this custom aquamarine suit. Inspired by the Chanel Fall 2015 Haute Couture collection, this look had it all—a tone-on-tone satin bow, chiffon cape, camellia brooch, and most importantly, attitude.

The entire look was dandyism reimagined, and that hat sealed the deal. I’m that Lupita reminded us why she’s one of the Met Gala’s all-time MVPs.

Textural Overload
Dua Lipa brought the embellishment extravaganza in a custom Chanel open-back corset dress decked out in pearls, sequins, feathers, and crystals, all layered over a tweed jacket. It was textural heaven, but I’ll say it—she didn’t need the cape. The look was more impactful without it.

jumpsuit & overskirt
Jennie went full tailoring goddess in a black leather satin jumpsuit that played with textures and embellishments. With pearled cabochons, strings of pearls, a white silk camellia, and a jewelled button parade, the look was equal parts edgy and classic. The black leather satin overskirt lined in white taffeta added a theatrical finish, giving the ensemble a structured drama that nodded to the night’s theme with flair.

Tweed on tweed, with a whisper of Coco
Whitney Peak’s custom Chanel Spring 2025 sequin tweed moment felt like a love letter to Coco Chanel herself. While it wasn’t loud or overly directional, there was a charm in the simplicity—something Chanel does best when it leans into its heritage. Whitney kept it clean and classic, proving that subtlety still has a place on fashion’s biggest stage.

Coco rebel
Angèle turned heads in a lilac taffeta bustier and matching skirt that could’ve walked straight out of a Chanel fairy tale—if the fairy godmother rode a motorcycle. Taken from the Chanel Fall 1991 collection, the Karl Lagerfeld-era look was already packed with biker attitude, but Angèle amped it up with Chanel accessories and a black leather jacket that screamed punk princess with couture credentials.

It was a daring mash-up that showed you can still do Chanel and have a little fun while you’re at it.
Between the tailoring, embellishment, and inventive styling, this Chanel crew showed that staying in your lane can be anything but boring when you swerve with intention.
All the look was styled with either Chanel High Jewelry or Fine Jewelry.
