There were many more ladies who grace the red carpet for the 2024 Governors Awards.
Olivia Rodrigo wore a vintage Yves Saint Laurent Fall 1997 Haute Couture strapless gown which hit the runway six years before she was born.
While the singer does this silhouette a lot, I can hardly blame her for being drawn to the elegant gown.
When it comes to an Ariana DeBose I mentally reach for my red pen like a school teacher marking homework, but the ‘Wish’ actress was flawless in this pink Monique Lhuillier look styled with an OMEGA timepiece.
Even the hair is perfect on this occasion.
I’m actually in shock.

Angela Bassett collected her honorary Oscar wearing a custom Dolce & Gabbana mermaid gown.
I make this 2 and 0 for Dolce & Gabbana’s womenswear looks so far this season.
This nude hue isn’t a good colour for Angela, and the mermaid gown feels a bit dated, mostly on account of the degrade design of the Swarovski crystals.
It looks like Angela pulled this from the 1993 wardrobe for her film, ‘What’s Love Got to Do with It.’

America Ferrera borrowed from the boys wearing a custom Moschino black tuxedo which didn’t skip the trimmings – cummerbund, bow-tie, and contrast buttons.

Cailee Spaeny was back to a label I feel that suits her delicate style the best: Miu Miu.
Her cream cut-out dress detailed with an embroidered crystal bow ranks highly among her other Miu Miu looks from her ‘Priscilla’ promo tour wouldn’t you agree?

Jurnee Smollett is getting the custom Louis Vuitton gown edit which has no correlation to the runway, as seen on the likes of Alicia Vikander and Lea Seydoux.
This is beautiful, but I’m still hoping for something a little more directional from Jurnee and LV, but Jurnee seems to have hit a sweet spot with the label, so my wish is unlikely to be realised.
The wintery vibes were strong despite the Spring 2024 label of Lily Gladstone’s Huishan Zhang look which she styled with Paul Andrew Lofty croc embossed boots, and her signature statement earrings.
One thing about a Christian Siriano design, is that you will be walking the runway looking like a goddess.
Niecy Nash-Betts is very much case-in-point.
Olivia Munn returned to the red carpet giving us bed sheet couture in this Maticevski Laure swing top, and Clary maxi skirt.
I confident there was a sultry sophisticated idea here, but it didn’t translate.
