Mckenna Grace Revisits Betsey Johnson’s Archives for Her Today Show Appearance
Mckenna Grace made a guest appearance on The Today Show this morning, promoting her new film, The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.

Stepping out in Manhattan, Mckenna dipped into the Betsey Johnson archives, selecting a baby-blue satin mini dress from the designer’s Spring 2015 collection. With its puff sleeves, sweetheart neckline, flared skirt and floral corsage, this was a delightful throwback to the designer’s signature girlish aesthetic.
Another archival moment for Mckenna comes as no surprise, considering her stylist, Molly Dickson, has made vintage fashion something of a speciality.
I have a feeling some will find this look far too twee for a 20-year-old, especially with the two bows in her hair. But I love that Mckenna has fully embraced the playful nature of the dress. When you wear something like this, trying to make it more grown-up would defeat the purpose, and I don’t think there’s any need to. Removing the runway’s petticoat gives the dress a slightly different feel while retaining everything that makes it so charming.

Betsey Johnson Bria Pink pumps added more colour and sparkle, while a Judith Leiber Butterfly Fireclipper crystal clutch and layered Pandora necklaces featuring blue blossom and red ladybird charms, plus rings of Cherry Blossom and Band of Hearts and pink hooped earrings completed the look.
But these accessories weren’t simply chosen for their playful appeal. Flowers and butterflies play a significant role in The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, with both featuring among the dangers of the arena. This adds another layer to Mckenna’s method dressing for the press tour. I love how Molly Dickson has tied everything together, staying true to Betsey Johnson’s whimsical aesthetic while incorporating references to the film.
Stylist: Molly Dickson.
