2021 Oscars Red Carpet Roundup

Here is a roundup of the other looks which graced the red carpet for the 2021 Oscars on Sunday (April 25).

Laura Pausini was nominated for Best Original Song for ‘The Life Ahead.’

I have to say the black gowns we have seen on the red carpet this awards season have blown me away, and this gown especially designed for Laura by Valentino Creative Director, Pierpaolo Piccioli is no exception.

I was totally seduced by the cut, the fit and the fabrication, but those BVLGARI High Jewelry earrings in platinum with 2 octagonal emeralds are simply breath-taking.

H.E.R. continues to present her luxe boho vibe wearing a custom Dundas cobalt blue embellished hooded cape bordered in embellished lyric motifs.

Some might say this is more of a Grammys look, but since she was nominated in the Best Original Song category last night, I don’t see anything wrong with bringing that same energy to this event, especially as she won.

Chopard Jewelry and Giuseppe Zanotti’s highest platforms completed her look, and prevented the trousers from dragging on the floor, as they have done so in the past.

Olivia Cooke as a Versace girl?  Who knew?

The British actress tapped into the ceremony virtually from London wearing a shimmery pink Atelier Versace fringe-effect crystal embroidered creation featuring a satin corset bodice, and fluid, semi-sheer skirt.

I don’t think this will go down well with the majority, but I’m totally here for this Jessica Rabbit moment, which is a leap outside her comfort zone.

I love the red hair too.

Atelier Versace Spring 2021

Glenn Close wore a custom Armani Prive vibrant blue beaded dress and navy trouser combo which was one of the boldest colourwise.

I love the elegance of it all, but I did find myself kinda wishing this was full length.

Leather gloves made sense to me, considering there is still a pandemic going on.

Fred Leighton, and KWIAT jewels plus Christian Louboutin Iriza black suede d’orsay kitten heels completed her look.

Armani Prive

Angela Bassett brought her go-big energy to the Oscars wearing a custom Alberta Ferretti red crepe off the shoulder gown with draped organza shoulders which formed a bow and train which ran down her back.

Christian Louboutin Loubi Queen silver leather sandals completed her jaw-dropping look.

This is why crepe reminds my favourite fabric. It allows such a sharp precise that is crease free.

Celeste’s style hasn’t really resonated with the majority, but I love her standout style.

On this occasion she wore a custom Gucci gown which didn’t push the boundaries as we’ve come to expect, yet her M.O. is really about creating a look which captures the mood of the event, so this was perfectly in tune.  Styled Gucci High Jewelry, it was the Gucci embellished anatomical heart-shaped clutch which added a quirk.

You may remember that Tessa Thompson wore the runway shorter version of this look.

Gucci Fall 2019

‘Promising Young Woman’ director Emerald Fennell was in full bloom wearing Gucci Epilogue Resort 2021 gown with delicate ruffled details and sequin embroidery, which carries on her love for bold statement prints during awards season.

Youn Yuh-jung looked very elegant and regal wearing a Marmar Halim brocade gown with a velvet belt styled with Chopard Haute Joaillerie, a Roger Vivier clutch and Bottega Veneta heels.

Han Yeri wore a sleek and contemporary custom red dress from Louis Vuitton.

Chadwick Boseman’s widow Simone Ledward Boseman attended the ceremony in a bespoke Atelier Versace gown.

The watermelon hue is stunning, the wrap silhouette is very complementary, and the touches of gold added to the overall glamour.

Sadly, the night didn’t end in a win for the late actor.

Olivia Colman was a lady in red Dior Haute Couture.

While the sleeves appear too long, this is the first time in a long while that I have been impressed by a look from the British actress.

The Dior shoes are perhaps my favourite part of this look, and if I could remove one thing, it would be the embellished Roger Vivier clutch.

I get that she wanted to add more glam to the look, but that’s what the Chopard Jewelry was there for.

Laverne Cox wore a Christian Siriano’s Fall 2021 gown.  I can’t say I love this fuchsia and black texture tulle ombré layered piece, but she totally sold it to me.
