‘All’s Fair’ New York Premiere: Three Very Different Takes on Black

Sarah Paulson, Niecy Nash and Naomi Watts joined Kim Kardashian, Glenn Close and Teyana Taylor at the New York premiere of All’s Fair Season 2 on Monday. While all three opted for black, their choices couldn’t have been more different.

Now This Is More Like It

This is the Sarah Paulson I absolutely adore. I still maintain that her recent Miu Miu look was too tame for her, because this Roksanda Spring 2027 gown, with its crocodile-effect finish and modern interpretation of a pannier skirt, is everything I want to see from her. The matte black panels break up the glossy texture beautifully, while emphasising the exaggerated proportions that make this design so special.

Sarah has always been willing to experiment with unconventional silhouettes, so this felt entirely in keeping with her style. Aquazzura Voile pumps and statement earrings, of course, completed the look. For me, this was easily one of her strongest red carpet appearances of the year, and there have been plenty.

More Is More

With Niecy Nash, first comes the confidence, then come the extravagant gowns. And this LouBe creation might be one of her most ambitious yet. I love how the gold embellishments follow the dramatic draping, which wraps around her head before extending over one arm. There is so much fabric here, yet Niecy never looks overwhelmed by it.

Subtlety has never been Niecy’s approach to red carpet dressing, and I wouldn’t want her to start now. My only question is, how does her team keep finding gowns that are bigger and bolder than the last?

Sometimes Simplicity Wins

After two elaborate gowns, Naomi Watts offered a completely different perspective in Mugler.

The plunging neckline and sculpted silhouette were classic Mugler, while the thigh-high slit added to the sultry appeal. Simple? Yes, but every bit as striking as the other two looks, just in a completely different way.

The simplicity of the dress also allowed her Messika High Jewellery White Midnight Sun diamond earrings and Concorde ring to shine. Aquazzura Linea pumps completed the look.

Naomi has always excelled at this kind of understated glamour, and this was another reminder of why it suits her so well.
