Demi Moore Makes a Case for Denim Couture at the 2026 CFDA Fashion Awards

Demi Moore joined the celebrations at the 2026 CFDA Fashion Awards, where she presented Zac Posen and Gap Inc. with the Innovation Award, presented by Amazon Fashion. And what better way to honour the designer than by wearing one of his most impressive denim creations?

The actress wore a custom Zac Posen for GapStudio gown, which I would rank among his best denim designs, alongside Da’Vine Joy Randolph’s unforgettable 2024 Met Gala gown.

It’s the construction for me. The corseted bodice is cleverly assembled from denim jeans waistbands, with the buttons, belt loops and stitching creating a beautifully sculpted silhouette. I love how Zac has taken something as familiar as a pair of jeans and reworked it into a red carpet gown, without losing the details that make denim instantly recognisable.

The fitted skirt, complete with a front slit and sweeping train, is equally impressive, while the matching miniature denim bag is a fun finishing touch. Some might not love the shoes, but I think the colour complements the classic contrast stitching we see on denim.

This is exactly why Zac Posen deserved the Innovation Award. He continues to find new ways to work with everyday fabrics, and Demi was the perfect person to showcase his creativity on the night.
