Li Yuchun In Gucci – The Fashion Awards 2019
Li Yuchun (李宇春) aka Chris Lee attended The Fashion Awards 2019 held at Royal Albert Hall on Monday (December 2) in London.
We’ve known the Chinese singer-actress style as predominately androgynous, but big events such as the Met Gala and amfAR Cannes, have seen her opt for more girlie options.
Much like this Gucci Resort 2020 plissé tiered dress.
Some might feel that the cape embroidered with “194” rendered this look over theatrical, but I feel like this sits firmly in Li Yuchun’s wheelhouse of stylish extravagance.
When has she ever taken the safe option?
Even when it comes to the satin floral embroidered gloves, platforms and Gucci crystal Web headband, I find that she selling the total look without feeling that it’s at all costumey.
I’m sure some will disagree.
Do you wish Li Yuchun had evoked Coco Chanel’s rule of “taking one thing off before you leave the house?”
