January Jones In Zac Posen – 2012 Emmy Awards

January Jones always likes to takes a risk on the red carpet, so I was thrilled to see yet another dramatic look from her at the 2012 Emmy Awards on Sunday evening.

The ‘Mad Men’ star didn’t let me down, wearing a showstopping Zac Posen Resort 2013 gown.

While black tends to get lost in translation, the architectural details on this dress are hard to miss.

I love the sleek, deep side-parted hair paired with the equally severe gown.

The makeup and attitude are perfect for this look. Bravo Miss Jones.

    Everything about this is awful.

      I agree.

The Ice Queen looks at home in this stunning dark tornado twister.

  4. rebecca September 24, 2012 at 00:56 #

favourite. this look is so fabulous

  5. Yeliz September 24, 2012 at 00:57 #

This is one of her best looks ever.

  6. Grace Patricia September 24, 2012 at 00:58 #

Statuesque. She looks gorgeous. I always love a little bit of drama when it’s not via exceeding tulle, embroidery or huge trains overwhelming the one who’s wearing.

  7. Christine September 24, 2012 at 00:59 #

    The dress looks familiar.

I see she is going for the gothic approach. That said, I like it.

  8. Dorothy September 24, 2012 at 01:00 #

One of my favorites of the night!

    • Fiona - Brasil September 24, 2012 at 04:12 #

      My favorite, too !

    • Natalie19 September 24, 2012 at 19:49 #

      +1

I also think it’s one of the best of the night

  9. Jones19 September 24, 2012 at 01:00 #

January rarely appeals to me on the red carpet but I must say bravo on this amazing look. She really played up the vampyness of the dress which I admire.

  10. MissAmynae September 24, 2012 at 01:01 #

Personal best for her. In my three best-dressed of the night, with Cat Deeley and Keirnan Shipka.

  11. Hannah September 24, 2012 at 01:02 #

I don’t know why, I just can’t get myself to love it. The neckine and straps (sleeves?) don’t work for me at all, but strapless it would have been too similar to the blue atelier versace. It is very “Project Runway” to me, and I also find it very unflattering on ehr body.

  12. nokia September 24, 2012 at 01:02 #

Wow… shes killing it. loving all the dresses at emmys this year

  13. DorianGray September 24, 2012 at 01:04 #

    I wouldn’t change a thing. Pure perfection.
    BRAVISSIMA January!

  15. Odette September 24, 2012 at 01:13 #

January can be inconsistent, but as FC pointed out, she brings her A-Game to big events.

  16. Koma September 24, 2012 at 01:14 #

I love the dress on Erin O’Connor, it just looks so elegant and regal. January looks good but I’m not really blown away…I think it’s the fit on the top that bothers me

  17. Christine September 24, 2012 at 01:14 #

    What happened to my comment?

She is totally selling this gown with her attitude, love it, she just needed a better shoe.

Those peep-toes really killed my buzz, I was beaming irl until I scrolled down.

    • chyc September 25, 2012 at 09:56 #

      Agree

  20. Ella September 24, 2012 at 01:27 #

  21. Anne g September 24, 2012 at 01:34 #

I love everything but the shoes are eeeeeewwwwwwwwwww.

  22. jimmy September 24, 2012 at 01:55 #

Love the gown but I really dislike the hair and makeup.

  23. TL September 24, 2012 at 02:09 #

Wow! It’s sensational! Love love love it.

  24. rebecca o September 24, 2012 at 02:18 #

I love that she always takes risks. The dress and the makeup’s great. Not a fan of the stripper shoes, though.

  25. Rebecca Z September 24, 2012 at 02:31 #

Love the gown, if she were working it a little harder it would be a big win. But she is so stiff–always–she doesn’t have the flair for the fashion risks she takes, in my opinion.

  26. Wong Hiao Hiao September 24, 2012 at 02:37 #

Does anybody get a Charlize Theron-meets-Christina Ricci vibe?

  27. EmmaWoodhouse September 24, 2012 at 02:44 #

This is a tough look but she pulls it off. It is a little like her Versace from ’10 but this is so much better than that mess (imo). I would change her hair, though, and give her a smile–old Hollywood waves would have softened the look and a more cheerful expression would have made this look avant-garde but accessible.

  28. Moxie September 24, 2012 at 03:04 #

    Perfect from the ankles up.

  29. ann September 24, 2012 at 03:34 #

I am not yet convinced that she can pull off directional but this is a step in the right direction.

  30. taksi September 24, 2012 at 03:37 #

I think it’s a little flat but it’s her probably her most successful attempt for an awards show since she had her baby.

  31. Dhppy September 24, 2012 at 05:30 #

I didn’t like this at first, but it won me over. I’m glad JJ always takes risks.

  32. Aline September 24, 2012 at 06:38 #

I love the gown. But IMO she doesn’t sell it. And I really don’t like the hair. Bummer.

  33. Amy September 24, 2012 at 08:49 #

I’m not blown away by this but I like January for her ability to take risks on the RC

  34. Noemi September 24, 2012 at 09:14 #

There’s only one word for this look: perfection. She looks stunning, the dress is beautiful and styled perfectly.

  35. shap_half September 24, 2012 at 09:17 #

    YES!!!

  36. Xiomalys Crespo September 24, 2012 at 10:28 #

This is one of my favorite looks, along with Leslie Mann’s and Emilia Clarke’s.

    Confidence is the best accessory.

  37. Jess2 September 24, 2012 at 10:41 #

    Amazing!!

  38. TeaAtTwo September 24, 2012 at 12:44 #

I’m so glad she wore peep toes rather than pumps, they kept the dramatic dress the focus but didn’t weigh it down. the slick hair and cool make go well with the moody drama of it all.

  39. justme September 24, 2012 at 12:49 #

I love this. January never disappoints at the Emmys. Her makeup is perfect for this.
I would be bowing if it wasn’t for those shoes -sigh-

  40. Tati M September 24, 2012 at 15:46 #

    BRAVO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  41. dee September 24, 2012 at 16:24 #

I am not a fan of this look. I don’t like the gown on her. Looks divine on the model. The shoes are a snooze too.

  42. Joan September 24, 2012 at 17:28 #

My favorite of the night!! Love everything about this look!

  43. FC310 September 24, 2012 at 19:37 #

Don’t care for the shoes, but I think her fashion risk paid off ! Not many actresses dare to do edgy fashion consistently on the RC like January.

  44. noo September 24, 2012 at 21:13 #

    I like it!
