Three Ways To Wear Black: Georges Chakra At The Academy Museum Gala
Anna Kendrick, Eva Longoria and Carla Gugino wore Georges Chakra Couture to the 2026 Academy Museum Gala in Los Angeles on Saturday, each offering a different interpretation of black eveningwear.

The Standout
Anna Kendrick was the standout for me in this Georges Chakra Fall 2026 Couture gown. From the intricate guipure lace and feather-shaped laser-cut paillettes to the sculptural panels adding volume at the hips and the sweeping pleated black tulle train, everything about this design appealed to me.
There is so much going on here, yet the individual elements work beautifully together. The pink gemstone earrings were also an inspired choice, providing a welcome contrast to the black lace.

A Question Of Proportions
Eva Longoria’s Georges Chakra Fall 2026 Couture off-the-shoulder mermaid gown is beautiful, but I almost feel that the structure is too much for someone as petite as Eva.
I can’t quite put my finger on it. The exaggerated hips, rigid neckline and dramatic flared hem are all lovely design elements, but together, they seem to overwhelm her frame. I think a softer silhouette would have served her better.

Sheer Perfection
Carla Gugino’s black off-the-shoulder Georges Chakra Spring 2025 Couture gown was the perfect example of how to incorporate sheer panels beautifully.
The horizontal satin bands alternating with intricate openwork lace create glimpses of skin without making transparency the focus of the entire gown. This is exactly the sort of thoughtful placement I appreciate, where the sheer details enhance the design rather than dominate it.
