Celebrities at the ‘Garance’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere

The Garance premiere at the Cannes Film Festival gave us everything from classic black gowns to sharply tailored menswear, with a few unexpected turns in between. Following Cate Blanchett’s divisive Givenchy moment, did the rest of the red carpet deliver?

Glamour Mode

Bella Hadid has had her archival moments on this red carpet, but this time she turned to Prada, who designed this column gown with a train, as expected. However, the icy blue hue and matching cape with bomber sleeves ensured this didn’t drift into familiar territory. Chopard jewels completed her look.

Lace Romance

Adèle Exarchopoulos wore Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello, delivering one of the strongest looks of the night in a deep burgundy lace gown with dramatic hip detailing. The off-the-shoulder neckline and rich colour gave the look a dark romantic mood that felt perfectly suited to her style.

Minimalism Wins

Adriana Lima kept things strikingly simple in a black strapless column bustier Nicholas Oakwell Couture dress ruched through the hips. The emerald-and-diamond Chopard necklace and bold red lip did all the heavy lifting here.

Sharp In Chanel

After her colourful fringed Chanel dress earlier in the week, Anna Mouglalis was back in her more natural Chanel habitat in this Fall 2026 suit styled with Chanel Fine Jewelry. The look carried the kind of understated authority that suits her perfectly.

Graphic Glamour

I know some will feel that Carla Bruni’s Roberto Cavalli 2025 Couture zebra-print gown looks a bit dated, partly because the print appears to pay homage to the bold glamour the house was built on under Roberto Cavalli himself. But that is exactly why I love it. This had the kind of old-school Cannes energy that has been missing from this festival for some time. Chopard emerald-and-diamond jewels completed her look.

Purple Reign

Colman Domingo wore Valentino, delivering another standout moment at Cannes. The rich purple silk shirt with crystal striping and flowing train brought a flair to the red carpet that we haven’t really seen from menswear so far, and honestly, only Colman could sell this with such confidence. We also have another reminder of why Boucheron named him an ambassador, with the brooch perfectly placed to act as a bolo tie. What would menswear be without Colman?

Leather Pilot Energy

Emmanuelle Béart wore a Balmain Fall 2026 pilot leather jacket with a wrap skirt, while the opaque tights and pumps completed a look that felt distinctly French in spirit.

Modern Black Tie

François Civil wore a Louis Vuitton black double-breasted tuxedo jacket with black patent leather LV Jazz derbies. While the foundation was classic black tie, the bolo-style detail and slim sunglasses gave the look a more modern edge. The sharp proportions and understated styling made this feel cool rather than overly formal.

Understated Elegance

Julianne Moore wore a custom Bottega Veneta gown in a striking shade of red that instantly stood out against the Cannes backdrop. The colour lifted this beyond the black uniforms she tends to favour stateside, but the understated nature of the look still sat comfortably within her wheelhouse.

Floral Fantasy

Liu Wen wore a Chanel Fall 2026 red iridescent lace and pink silk dress embroidered with multicoloured floral beadwork, styled with Chopard jewels. There was a sweetness to this look that felt balanced by the intricate detailing and feather accents. On another red carpet this might have felt too OTT, but at Cannes, I am fully cheering this look on.
