Allison Williams Layers Up To Promote ‘A Series Of Unfortunate Events’

Fashion Blogger Catherine Kallon features Allison Williams Layers Up To Promote 'A Series Of Unfortunate Events'

One thing that didn’t escape my notice this week was Allison Williams’ commitment to layering while promoting ‘A Series Of Unfortunate Events.’

SiriusXM: The first look sees her keeping the New York chill at bay wearing a Fendi Fall 2018 coat, with a steel-grey dress from The Row, but it’s the Brunello Cucinelli cardigan slung over her shoulders which really sells this look to me. A Mulberry ‘Amberley’ satchel and lush burgundy pumps completed this look.

2019 Golden Globe Awards Menswear Roundup

2019 Golden Globe Awards Menswear Roundup2

There were plenty of menfolk on the red carpet at the 2019 Golden Globe Awards on Sunday (January 6) in Beverly Hills, California, and I was delighted by the diversity of looks they offered up.

Ben Whishaw: Nominated for ‘A Very English Scandal,’ the actor was looking very fine in his Alexander McQueen embroidered suit styled so crisply with the dress shirt that you didn’t even miss the tie.

Stephan James: The ‘Homecoming’ star and nominee couldn’t have looked more dapper if he tried in this impeccably tailored Ralph Lauren Purple Label velvet suit styled supremely well with a Swarovski Odysseia pendant, Chopard timepiece, cufflinks and Christian Louboutin ‘Alpha Male’ toe-cap loafers.

Luke Evans: Also wearing an Alexander McQueen ensemble, Luke went for a slightly more traditional mood in his formal white dinner jacket with black lapels.

The men also had their style moment at the 2018 Emmy Awards on Monday (September 17) in LA, with many of the boys showing their older peers how it’s done.

Noah Schnapp: Can a look be simultaneously cute and cool? Yes, it can, with this Fendi Made to Measure Suit that had all the cool-kid, retro-forward charm you can possibly imagine for this ‘Stranger Things’ actor.

Dacre Montgomery: Something about this Brunello Cucinelli tux styled with Montblanc studs and Jimmy Choo ‘Penn’ shoes had a prom-meets-Victorian flavor. Must have been the corsage and the mustache.

Joe Keery: The ‘Stranger Things’ actor got in on the cropped trend with this Dolce & Gabbana blue suit paired with a Montblanc watch and cufflinks. Speaking of prom, his hair always reminds me of a throwback dance moment.

It’s time to check in on those men that have been out and about at the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival over the past few days.

Robert Pattinson: At the ‘High Life’ premiere, Robert wore a Dior Men by Kim Jones Spring 2019 three-piece suit that had quite the dandy demeanor, especially with the floral dress shirt.

Kit Harington: Looking quite formal, Kit was polished in a Givenchy tuxedo at the ‘The Death and Life of John F. Donovan’ premiere.

Mahershala Ali: Sometimes we roll our eyes at sunglasses on the red carpet, but on this occasion, his Jimmy Choo shades really added some fun, quirky edge to this Ermenegildo Zegna Couture cropped suit at the ‘Green Book’ premiere. That teal pocket square did, too.

‘White Boy Rick’ New York Screening

'White Boy Rick' New York Screening

After the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival premiere, Bel Powley and Camila Alves were back on the promo circuit for ‘White Boy Rick,’ attending the film’s New York screening on Wednesday (September 12).

Bel Powley: With a decidedly sassier attitude, the actress donned a Christopher Kane Fall 2018 metallic mini. I’m not a huge fan of the exaggerated ‘wing’ shoulders, but she styled the look well with her streamlined approach and statement lip.

Camila Alves: She kept the white theme going strong whilst hopping on the menswear trend with this Brunello Cucinelli Fall 2018 look. Between the layers of jewels with the bunchy pants and lug-sole sneakers, there’s a unique mix of sultry and boyish here. It left me a bit confused.

Blake Lively In Brunello Cucinelli – Out In New York City

Blake Lively In Brunello Cucinelli - Out In New York City

If you’re sick of Blake Lively wearing suits, you have to at least admire the woman’s commitment to this run and promotion of this movie.

Chances are you won’t forget it, so for Blake, it’s mission accomplished.

Her 1,389th suit saw her opt for Brunello Cucinelli once again while attending press engagements on Tuesday (September 11) in New York City.

Tailored to the point of perfection, her brown, white, and burgundy plaid wool captures the brand’s signature refinement.

Wearing a blouse on this occasion, the actress opted to highlight the cropped, wide-leg of the trousers with the Christian Louboutin ‘Crapadonna’ studded brogues she’s worn once before on this promo tour.

Wrapping up the autumnal toned look with a tan leather coat, shades and a box bag, I would say this is one of her best of this run.

When asked if there was a certain reason behind her new look at the New York premiere she said, “I just thought the way he (Paul Feig, who directs ‘A Simple Favor’) dressed is so beautiful.”

“I thought that like, I don’t understand why when a woman wears a suit it has to be like unbuttoned to here or no shirt, or a necklace or whatever, that’s also great, but I also think why can’t we also?” she questions. “Why can’t it be just as sexy when we’re wearing a tight bowtie and pocket square and floret and watches and rings?”

“I think that if sexuality comes out of that and you’re that covered it’s even more you know powerful.”

Blake Lively In Brunello Cucinelli – 2018 MTV VMAs

Blake Lively was spotted in leaving Radio City Music Hall following her guest appearance at the 2018 MTV VMAs on Monday (August 20), wearing another suit.

Having seen the trailer for ‘A Simple Favor,’ it’s safe to say she is paying homage to her suit-wearing-character ‘Emily.’

Having sent you guys into meltdown following her Brunello Cucinelli look last week, she opted to wear the Italian label again, this time styling her velvet white suit with a striped pinstripe vest, and white button down shirt plus silver glitter brogues to offset the vest and jewels.

This, and her Vivienne Westwood suits feel the most relaxed from her marathon run, but the Versace still stands out as my clear favourite.
