Catherine, Princess of Wales Wore Alexander McQueen, Burberry & Chanel On Day One Of Her US Visit

Catherine, Princess of Wales official tour of the United States kicked off in great style with a suit from Alexander McQueen.

And that wasn’t the only British fashion brand she wore on the first day of her tour, as she also selected pieces from Burberry, and Mulberry.

Departing the British Airways aircraft at Boston Logan International Airport on Wednesday (November 30), the Princess looked very sophisticated wearing a deep purple Alexander McQueen suit which she styled with her go-to navy suede Gianvito Rossi pumps.

We are used to Alexander McQueen’s directional aesthetic when it comes to their razor-sharp tailoring, so you might find this more classic, asymmetric-free cut refreshing.

Princess Diana’s sapphire earrings completed this look.

For the Earthshot Awards, Catherine arrived looking very elegant wearing a custom Alexander McQueen coat styled with matching Emmy London shoes, a Mulberry bag and earrings from Shyla London.

Inside the venue, the Princess revealed a beautiful tartan Burberry dress.

As we all know tartan (or plaid) is considered traditionally Scottish, so I like how Catherine was representing both Ireland with the green coat, and Scotland with the dress in one outing.

If you were expecting the Princess to loosen up for the NBA game between Boston Celtics and the Miami Heat, you were very much mistaken.

We’ve seen Catherine wear relaxed looks for less formal occasions during her tours – which I guess was easier during her tour of the Caribbean.

But I can’t see that being the case on this tour, as all eyes will be honed in on who she is wearing and the significance of each look in her new role as a Princess.

You should recognise this cobalt blue Chanel tweed jacket, because the Princess first wore it in London back in October.

In related news, Kensington Palace has announced that they will no longer be disclosing details of Catherine’s outfits to the media going forward.

It’s believed that this is due to a massive change in protocol after years of managing ‘the Kate effect’, where clothes she wore sold out in hours.

Miranda Holder, Celebrity stylist and royal expert, suggests it could be due to the optics of the high designer prices of some of the items Catherine wears, particularly during a cost-of-living crisis.

Miranda said in an interview with ‘Today with Claire Byrne,’ “Kate is stepping into the role now, it’s getting serious for her. She is now the Princess of Wales, the throne is definitely in sight as Queen Consort or Queen Catherine, and it’s time to get serious and the palace understandably wants to focus the world’s attention on her role as a working royal and the charities and functions she supports, rather than what she’s wearing.”

This makes a lot of sense for Catherine and her PR team, but us fashion detectives will identify them anyway.

It may take us a while, but we will find it.

Traditionally, fashion houses haven’t sent out press releases with regards to who Catherine wears, so perhaps that will now change.
