2021 MTV VMAs Red Carpet Roundup
Here is a roundup from the 2021 MTV VMAs which took place in New York City on Sunday (September 12).
Ashanti has never been shy about going all out when it comes to her red carpet style, and she’s not afraid to collect a few misses along the way.
On the model, I was salivating over this Michael Costello Havana Collection gown, but Ashanti doesn’t sell it to me, as it’s a little all over the place in terms of the placements, which are also tied too tight in some place, which rendered this unflattering on her.
Alicia Keys was only interested in the Louis Vuitton Fall 2021 jacket for her red carpet look. I like how it added a street style edge to her black catsuit.
My first reaction to seeing this picture was, “how did Cardi B snap back so quickly?”
But this is actually rapper Bia, who is the spitting image of the ‘WAP’ rapper.
She showed a lot of love for the Bottega Veneta Fall 2021 collection by wearing a red draped fringe dress, intrecciato weave clutch and Stretch strappy sandals which were an upgrade on footwear from the look book.
Billie Eilish is co-chairing the Met Gala tonight, so this look tells me to expect big things, as she didn’t want to exert all her creativity at this event.
I truly respect that.
What do I love about this Charli XCX custom Shawna Wu dress handmade with handsewn upcycled lace?
The fact that it’s not another Vivienne Westwood dress.
She’s served up just about every style of Westwood dress for awards shows. It was time for something new.
I’m wondering if Amy Winehouse was on the vision board.
If you’re not a fan of this look. Would you have preferred the longer version?
Dove Cameron loves to make bold statements, so I was kinda surprised by this muted grey look from Zeynep Arçay.
But by the same token it was also refreshing at this event.
Leslie Grace looked beautiful wearing a fine fringed dress from the Oscar de la Renta Fall 2021 collection, which we’ve seen on Elodie.
When it came to Normani, I really liked the originality of this Patrycja Pagas look.
I think we are a little tired of the sheer dresses at this event and were crying out for some form of creativity.
However, that front part of her skirt could’ve been an inch or two longer.
Much like Avril Lavigne, Paris Hilton was taking us back in time with not only her hairstyle, but her dress from The Blonds Spring 2019 collection, which she was wearing for a second time after walking the runway.
I much prefer the runway styling. She should’ve gone with that.
Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker made their red carpet debut at this event.
Kourtney wore an Olivier Theyskens Spring 2021 off-the-shoulder leather mini dress that featured a lace-up front and some strappy sandals, while Travis coordinated with an edgy black tux featuring spikes on the shoulders and knees which was worn without a shirt of course.
Shay Mitchell wore a Nikita Karizma sculpted dress from the designers ‘Fire’ collection which was laced up at the back.
The laced at the back dress was so form fitting that she had to stand up on her way to the venue.
This was one of the best looks on the night.
Le Vian jewels completed her look.
Winnie Harlow loves a gorgeous gown, but on this occasion she wore a white jacket and shorts set from LaQuan Smith’s Spring 2022 collection, which she styled with Christian Louboutin ‘Iriza ’nude glitter mesh pumps and Messika Jewelry.
