2021 MTV VMAs Menswear Red Carpet Roundup
Here is the roundup from the men who took to the red carpet alongside Lil Nas X at the 2021 MTV VMAs on Sunday (September 12).
Shawn Mendes rocked a Mans Fall 2021 sleek white suit with a Judy Turner ribbed tank, and I know this is going to instantly be compared to Harry Styles.
Even though the form One Director singer has never worn this exact suit, it’s very much suited to his style.
Shawn has always been skinny trousers, fitted suit kinda guy, so this change of direction is bound to bring comparisons.
Nonetheless, this was one of my favourites from the entire red carpet if I ignore the shoes.
David Yurman jewels completed his look.
It wasn’t only Machine Gun Kelly’s Dolce & Gabbana Venice Alta Sartoria 2021 suit that was bedazzled, the performer’s face was accented with shimmering pearls which ran down his jawline, nose, and sideburns.
No matter what he added to his face, I will not be distracted from the fact that I wish he opted for the same colour runway shoes in patent leather.
Black Christian Louboutin Chambeliss patent leather shoes were his final choice.
As someone who has a perchant for crop tops, I was in love with Troye Sivan’s Fendi Spring 2022 cropped blazer and shorts combo.
It was also one of the more unique looks which didn’t fall into a try-hard category.
Ozuna, who was front row at the Dolce & Gabbana Venice Alta Sartoria 2021 show, showcased his sartorial style once again wearing a Dolce & Gabbana look which featured a gold textured tuxedo jacket which I simply adore for the fabrication and oversize cut, which doesn’t overwhelm.
Those shoes are suave too. I really enjoy his red carpet looks. The man has charisma.
Troye Sivan wasn’t the only one who opted for shorts, Giveon is not ready to give up summer shorts season just yet as he wore Valentino Uomo Pre-Fall 2021 look which he styled with the Chanel Fine Jewelry ‘Lion Protecteur’ necklace in 18K white gold with diamonds.
Following the GQ Awards, Ed Sheeran opted for another custom-made Atelier Versace tuxedo.
Much like the first, this look features a sharp tailored jacket while this one boasting the brand’s iconic Baroque print and is finished with a gold-tone Medusa buttons.
Who knew that Ed would develop such a flare for fashion?
Lil Huddy wore a Celine Spring 2021 look which has me lusting over his denim, zebra print jacket.
As a child of the ‘80s this shape and style is very indicative of jackets from that era.
The ’80s vibe is so strong so that means most of you will dislike this ? .
Iann Dior wore the same Berluti Fall 2021 ombre suit we saw on Dave Callaham.
I have to say I prefer this outing with the turtleneck which he layered with David Yurman jewels.
If anyone dares to repeat Leslie Odom Jr’s Berluti SAG Awards suit, I’m throwing hands.
Jack Harlow continues to showcase his style credentials wearing a Bottega Veneta Pre-Fall 2021 leather look in a colour that I now associate with the brand: green.
He styled his look with the popular Bottega Veneta boots with the green sole.
See what I mean about green going so closely associated with Bottega Veneta?
Rapper G-Easy – who used to only wear Saint Laurent (he even rapped about it) – also rocked a Pre-Fall 2021 look.
Does anyone wish he had opted for a black turtleneck? Or are you enjoying the two shades of green here?
In lieu of a menswear collection from Chanel, SAINt JHN selected a pink boucle suit from the Pre-Fall 2020 womenswear collection, and brought plenty of swag to the look.
This was one of my favourites.
I was kinda confused to see Travis Scott wearing this look from Bottega Veneta, considering he just co-designed a Dior Mens Spring 2022 collection titled Cactus Jack Dior, drawing its name from Scott’s Cactus Jack Records label.
Make this make sense.
As we’re nearing the velvet season, I did find myself swooning over this teal Vivienne Westwood MAN suit worn by Finneas.
Some people might feel that Billy Porter’s style is from outer space, so what better way to celebrate that than wearing a “dirty gold” (the designer’s description) Landeros shimmering space-age suit.
Just when I thought that Justin Bieber was perhaps turning a new leaf style-wise, he reverted to type by rocking his signature baggiest fit wearing Fear Of God and Balenciaga.
This look clumsy and lazy to me. As hard as all parties tried to make this look cool.
