Avril Lavigne Wore Area To The 2021 MTV VMAs

No.  You haven’t woken up in 2002 when ‘Complicated’ peaked at number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100.

This is Avril Lavigne attending the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards held at Barclays Center on Sunday (September 12) in New York City.

I wouldn’t blame you for thinking that you had stepped back in time, because little has changed for the singer.

She has the same hairstyle, she hasn’t aged in 19 years, and her style feels eerily familiar.

Avril wore a hot pink Area Pre-Fall 2021 suit which has become a celebrity favourite.

You might be thinking ‘Clueless.’  In terms of the film, not her fashion (or maybe you are).

But I’m getting 80s glamour, as this look fuses high-octane embellishments with an eccentric, pink check print.

I love the heart shape cut-out and that reveals a embellished bandeau, but I can’t say I’m a huge fan of the oversized fit of the trousers.

However, this is very much in tune with Avril’s 2002 style, and since that is what she was clearly tapping into, I can’t really fault that.

The Jimmy Coo ‘Bon Bon’ bag has to go though.
