amfAR Cannes Gala Red Carpet Roundup

Natasha Poly amfar cannes gala

With Sharon Stone as the host, and Alicia Keys performing at the amfAR Cannes Gala on Friday (July 16) in Cap d’Antibes, France, it was sure to be a night to remember.

But will we remember these red carpet looks…for the right reasons?

Natasha Poly was channelling her inner geisha girl wearing a one sleeve kimono-style dress from Redemption with Chaumet jewels.

Madison Headrick was also in all black, wearing an Azzaro dress decorated with the most subtle embellishments, which she style with Boucheron jewelry.

Felice Noordhoff

Felice Noordhoff in Burberry was perhaps one of the few that I actually really loved at this event.

Not only do I love the futuristic feel of this look, it also instantly reminded me of Beyonce’s Grammy gown.

Cindy Bruna

When it comes to Cindy Bruna’s Jean Paul Gaultier Fall 2018 Haute Couture dress I’m in limbo.

It’s a refreshing twist on the tuxedo dress, but I kinda wish the cream taffeta trim and train were black.

But ultimately, the dress is too short at the front. This clearer on the model, and explains Cindy’s pose and placement.

Pomellato jewels completed her look.

Akon Changkou

Akon Changkou wore an embellished Louis Vuitton Fall 2020 dress, which you may remember was worn by Stacy Martin during the 2020 Venice Film Festival.

While I prefer Akon’s minimal styling and black lipstick, I do love how the dress was presented with a belt.

Louis Vuitton Fall 2020

Bella Thorne wore an off-white Miu Miu sequinned strapless dress.

I feel that the black bow emboldened her to style the look with a black crystal-studded headband and matching sandals.

Her pearl necklace featuring crystal ‘Ben’ lettering was in reference to fiancée Benjamin Mascolo who joined her on the red carpet at this event.

While this is very true to Bella’s style, but the dress and shoes would’ve sufficed. Everything else feels like a distraction from a gorgeous dress.

Oriane Strohhacker

There is a lot I love about Oriane Strohhacker’s look starting with the hair, then her Miu Miu dress.

I’m unsure if the necklace is part of the dress, but I would guess so as Miu Miu have made embellishments their signature.

A Prada clutch completed her look.

Kat Graham wore a Nicolas Jebran embellished gown which doesn’t know if it wants to be mini or maxi.

Pomellato jewels completed her look.

Julianne Hough also wore a dress from Nicolas Jebran, yet the style is in a totally different zip code to Kat’s, as Julianne’s look is oozing with Old Hollywood glamour.

Dylan Penn’s pretty pink Chanel Spring 2021 Haute Couture look is her best at this event.

It’s more charming and elegant than her other looks, plus I adore the ruffles as the hem, and the gorgeous embellishments which she highlights with her Chopard earrings.

I’m glad she didn’t opt for the ruffled jacket.

Chanel Spring 2021 Haute Couture

Barbara Valente’s Bottega Veneta Spring 2021 dress may not feel gala ready, yet this look added plenty of spark and personality onto this red carpet.

I wish that the bodice on Candice Huffine’s Christian Siriano dress fit better.

And I also wish I couldn’t see a metallic cut-out swimsuit and black beach cover up.

I’m all in on the Christopher Kane earrings, however.

MJ Rodriguez

MJ Rodriguez wore her second custom Etro dress of the festival which she styled with Casadei heels.

Stella Maxwell

Stella Maxwell wore an Atelier Versace Spring 2020 dress which feels like a hybrid of two dresses.  Thankfully she has those supermodel powers to make it work.

David Yurman jewels completed her look.

Helena Gatsby looked absolutely beautiful in this beaded Alberta Ferretti dress.

We didn’t have to wait long to see this Chanel Pre-Fall 2021 dress back on the red carpet following its first outing at the ‘Gossip Girl’ New York Premiere.

However, French model Lola Nicon gave the people what they want, by opting not to wear this dress with the sheer cape.

Chanel Pre-Fall 2021
Lyna Khoudri

French actress Lyna Khoudri also wore Chanel, selecting a Fall 2017 Haute Couture white bustier satin dress featuring an underskirt embroidered with black feathers and tulle.

I’m wondering, had she not worn the black sequinned bolero would she have removed the underskirt?

I think that both elements make the dress more interesting.

Chanel shoes upheld the black and white theme.

Lous and the Yakuza wore the same Mônot Fall 2021 cut-out dress we saw on SZA for the 2021 Billboard Music Awards.

I much prefer Lous’ styling with the green feather sandals.

Mônot Fall 2021

Hana Cross also kept things sexy and chic in Mônot Fall 2021.

Sofia Resing looked radiant wearing a red BOSS cut-out dress styled with Messika jewels.

The cut-outs are doing an amazing job of narrowing her waist.

There was one designer I was hoping to see during Cannes Film Festival, and that was Stéphane Rolland.

While I love these Fall 2021 Haute Couture designs, I’m not in love with them on Ivy Love Getty and Isabel Getty.

Could be unknown bias, or that they both kinda look ridiculous.

I can’t figure which it is.
