‘Crazy Rich Asians’ star Gemma Chan’s Golden Globes look was all about classic glamour. The young starlet, who stole the show in a dramatically stunning Valentino Haute Couture gown and jaw-dropping diamonds, radiated on the red carpet with the help of celebrity makeup artist Monika Blunder. Her final makeup for the evening was an amped up take on the classic beauty look of Old Hollywood stars. Creating a look around a bold red pout, here’s how Monika created the look with Clé de Peau Beauté.
SKIN: Gemma’s luminous skin was thoroughly prepped prior to cosmetics. To achieve an ultra-hydrated and supple canvas, Monika expertly applied Clé de Peau Illuminating Concentrate Mask onto Gemma’s skin and went over with massage roller. Monika was sure to concentrate rolling along the jaw and cheekbones to create a more contoured base. Onto the complexion, Monika layered Clé de Peau Radiant Fluid Foundation SPF 24 in #030 – Medium Ochre and blending softly to for a natural, skin-like finish. To further highlight and illuminate the skin, Monika targeted key areas of the face with Clé de Peau Concealer Broad Spectrum SFP 25 in Beige and Clé de Peau Radiant Corrector for Eyes. Once the desired base was achieved, Monika set the makeup with Clé de Peau Translucent Loose Powder, concentrating only on the t-zone and undereye area. Leaving the cheeks free of setting powder allows flawless application of color products like blush and bronzer.
CONTOUR: To pronounce her elegant features, Monika softly contoured Gemma’s cheekbones and jawline with Clé de Peau Bronzing Powder Duo in Tan/Tan. Monika went on to pop certain aspects of the face with a Clé de Peau Luminizing Face Enhancer in #17 Lavender. She expertly diffused the luminous highlighter along the tops of Gemma’s cheekbones, down the bridge of her nose and slightly along the bow of her lips. For a final flush of fresh color, Monika buffed Clé de Peau Powder Blush Duo in #102 Cherry Blossom to the apples of the cheeks.
EYES: To create Gemma’s enchanting cat eye look, Monika saturated the lids of Gemma’s eyes with the lightest shade in Clé de Peau Eye Color Duo #102 Calm Pink which served as the base tone to the look. She then used the darker shade of the same duo and blended the shade onto the inner crease. To create the winged liner, Monika opted for a brown tone rather than a harsh black and created an elegant flick using Clé de Peau Intensifying Liquid Liner Eyeliner in #2 Brown. The fine-tipped style of the liner makes application of a cat eye a breeze while it’s long-lasting formulation allows for a smear-free look all evening. Due to the liner’s quick-drying application, Monika moved onto the lashes and proceeded to curl them. Once the curl was achieved, Gemma’s lashes were coated in Clé de Peau Perfect Lash Mascara in Black.
LIPS: The focal point of the look, Monika wanted to make sure Gemma’s lips were sufficiently prepped and hydrated prior to color. She primed the lips with Clé de Peau Lip Serum to ensure a plump pout. Monika drew from the beautiful tones of Gemma’s dress and opted for a classic blue-toned red shade which created a cohesive look with a bright, poppy finish. Using Clé de Peau Lipstick Cashmere in #103 Legend, an ideal red with blue undertones, Monika neatly applied the product onto Gemma’s lips. To ensure longevity and prevent bleeding or smears, Monika applied a light dusting of setting powder onto the lips after blotting them with a tissue.
