Celebrities at TIFF 2026: Final Red Carpet Looks
With Toronto Film Festival closing today, here is one final roundup, where colour, couture and a few unexpected silhouettes made sure these premieres gave us plenty to discuss.
Tenzing Premiere
CaitrÃona Balfe wore Standing Ground Fall 2026 Couture, and this is exactly the kind of draping that makes the label such a compelling choice for the red carpet. The ivory gown wraps and gathers around the body beautifully before falling into a long train. There is a lot of fabric here, but it never overwhelms her. It feels like a while since we got this level of glamour from the Irish actress.

Josephine Premiere
Gemma Chan usually loves sculptural silhouettes, but this kind of clean, unfussy glamour from a custom Calvin Klein Collection gown also suits her so well. So much so that, honestly, I’m kind of surprised she isn’t one of our minimalist queens.
The open sides prevented this from feeling flat, in more ways than one. I also appreciate that the styling was kept just as simple. This didn’t need anything more.
The Life and Deaths of Wilson Shedd Premiere
Amanda Seyfried has been on a run of looks that failed to excite, but I was delighted to see her back to her best in this stunning yellow Givenchy Fall 2026 dress.
The colour alone makes an immediate impact, but the cut is equally good on her, with the open back giving the dress its best moment. Her turquoise jewellery against the yellow was another inspired choice, and the metallic sandals were exactly the right finish. Finally, she’s back.
All of a Sudden Premiere
Virginie Efira has been loyal to Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello for some time. At times I question the union because it often doesn’t feel like the most natural fit. But that is just me missing her pure glamour era.
Black leather Bermuda shorts are such a hard sell, and despite pairing them with a printed lavallière blouse, I’m not buying into them.
A Talent for Murder Premiere
Helen Mirren made her case for red in a ME+EM fitted utility jacket, worn with a sweeping black skirt. The jacket is the moment, with a Tyler Ellis clutch and statement earrings completing the look.
Inherit Premiere
Davika Hoorne was always going to make an entrance, and this Zuhair Murad Fall 2026 Couture black velvet and tulle gown with stunning floral embroidery and beading delivered. The pose, the red lip and sculpted kiss curl? Davika knew exactly how to maximise the impact of this look.
In Alaska Premiere
I am a big Noomi Rapace fan, so I am glad the exaggerated waterfall collar on this McQueen Fall 2026 grey tailored jacket prevents this from feeling too corporate. The McQueen Slash boots in black leather suited Noomi’s style.
The Debut Premiere
Is it me, or are Julianne Moore’s custom Bottega Veneta looks starting to mould into one? The long panels of fringe do differentiate this from her last look, but it’s black minimalist look after black minimalist look when Louise Trotter has so much to offer.
Purgatory Premiere
Abby Elliott wore the Greta Constantine Bellafleur column gown. The flowers could easily have become overly sweet, but the black-and-white palette keeps them graphic, while the flared satin cuffs give the dress another point of interest. This is one of those looks where the details do all the work.
Evil Genius Premiere
Patricia Arquette wore a Loewe satin dress paired with red Origami Cubic slingbacks from the Pre-Fall 2026 collection.
The side view is where this comes alive, as the red panel suddenly becomes the defining feature of an otherwise simple black dress. A black Flamenco clutch completed the look, while the red lip reinforced the colour story. I adore this from head-to-toe.
All About Corinne Premiere
Of course Isabelle Huppert was going to go back to Balenciaga. From the cropped black leather jacket and wrapped leather piece to the voluminous black skirt, this is so Balenciaga-coded.
The oversized sunglasses only add to the familiarity of the look. And somehow Isabelle makes the sheer volume of it all feel entirely plausible. Swarovski jewellery completed the look.
