Celebrities at the ‘Ink’ Venice Film Festival Premiere
Here is a roundup from the Ink Venice Film Festival premiere, where lead actress Claire Foy was joined by jury president Maggie Gyllenhaal, Bianca Balti, Alessandra Ambrosio and Tatiana Korsakova.
A Softer Side
There was a time when a Celine red carpet dress was almost guaranteed to be covered in sequins, but Michael Rider has shifted the focus towards understated tailoring, as we’ve seen on Charlize Theron and now Maggie Gyllenhaal.
What saves this for me is the draping across the neckline and the fact that it feels right for her role as jury president. It has enough interest for a premiere without trying to compete with the evening’s more dramatic gowns.
Angel Energy
Bianca Balti wore Ilya Migmoon, the same label we saw on Joey King earlier this week, with a similar emphasis on the hips. But the mood couldn’t be more different.
Between the pale pink satin and feathered wings at the back, this is giving me more Victoria’s Secret than gothic glamour. The long train keeps it firmly in Venice territory, but those wings were always going to be the talking point. I’m more enthused by the Bvlgari necklace than the gown, but at least she gave us something other than a black dress.
Lingerie-Inspired Done Right
Whenever I see Intimissimi on the red carpet, I get horror flashbacks to Heidi Klum’s look at the festival last year. Thankfully, Alessandra Ambrosio avoided those same issues in this black Intimissimi gown.
There is still an obvious lingerie influence through the structured bra cups and fitted bodice, but this feels far better suited to the red carpet. The ruched skirt also helps move the dress away from something that should only be seen in the boudoir.
Couture Sculpture
Tatiana Korsakova wore a Stéphane Rolland Spring 2022 Haute Couture gown, and there was no missing her on this red carpet.
The asymmetric sculptural detail is a classic Stéphane Rolland signature, and while I’m not usually a fan of a necklace with an asymmetrical neckline, this one almost feels like part of the dress.
