Zendaya Wore Giorgio Armani To The ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Rome Premiere

Zendaya attended the Spider-Man: Brand New Day premiere held at Ponte Sant’Angelo in Rome this evening, delivering a second archival moment of the day.

If the afternoon photocall gave us the most direct colour reference to the franchise through red and blue, the evening premiere offered something altogether different. Instead of referencing the franchise through colour, Zendaya and Law Roach turned to symbolism, selecting a Giorgio Armani Spring/Summer 1990 dress embroidered with an intricate spiderweb motif.

The spiderweb motif is stunning on its own, allowing the dress to function as a beautiful archival piece while still connecting to the film.

The styling elevates it even further. The sculpted finger-wave hairstyle enhances the dress’s Old Hollywood mood, bringing its 1920s influence more clearly into focus. The soft makeup, delicate Elsa Peretti® Snake earrings and glittering Louboutin pumps reinforce that atmosphere.

If I were to nitpick, I wish the embroidered tulle overlay had extended to the same length as the under layer.

Even so, Zendaya looks stunning. Between the archival Armani, the vintage-inspired beauty styling and the film reference, this feels like a successful example of how the press tour has balanced fashion with storytelling. We had the gradual build-up, and, as I predicted, the more direct references eventually followed.

And finally, we may have our answer to the mysterious “39” on Zendaya’s Coach look. The number could reference The Amazing Spider-Man #39, a landmark issue published in 1966, although Marvel’s origins date back to 1939. With Zendaya and Law Roach, multiple layers of meaning are never entirely out of the question.
