Celebrities at the WSJ. Magazine 2025 Innovator Awards
Here is a roundup from the WSJ. Magazine 2025 Innovator Awards red carpet, held at MoMA in New York City.

Velvet Redux
Karlie Kloss wore Tamara Ralph Fall 2025 Couture, channelling the sophistication of 1940s glamour. The black velvet off-the-shoulder dress, defined by its corseted waist and oversized pearl buttons, felt like something Lauren Bacall might have worn — elegant, commanding, and steeped in old-Hollywood sensuality. The peplum detail accentuated her statuesque frame, while the rich texture of the velvet gave it that timeless allure. Gold drop earrings and black pumps completed her look. As good as she looks, I wish this was saved for Catherine Zeta-Jones.

Foliage fail
Brittany Snow wore an Akris Fall 2025 strapless gown featuring cascading black and navy feathers. Unfortunately, the WSJ. step-and-repeat — specifically that wall of greenery — did her no favours. The texture of the feathers blended too closely with the backdrop, almost robbing the look of its impact. The gown itself was stunning in motion, but next to the decor, was in danger of being little lost.

fit matters
Imaan Hammam opted for a Colleen Allen gown that should have been a showstopper, but it fell slightly flat. The white silk dress is beautiful in theory, yet the fit was distracting. Around the bust, the fabric appeared to pull and ripple, taking away from the intended sleek effect. Imaan’s natural poise still shone through, but this needed a sharper tailor’s hand, or a size down.

fringe finesse
Paloma Elsesser’s all-white Brandon Maxwell Spring 2026 look faired better. The combination of the fringe scarf knit tank, and skirt struck a clean, modern note. It was flattering, and fresh — simple but not basic.

couture cocoon
Mona Tougaard wore Saint Laurent, embodying the label’s dramatic volume trend from the Fall 2025 collection. The sculpted cocoon silhouette with gathered shoulders and a mini hemline was a bold choice, but perhaps too bold. The proportion overwhelmed her delicate frame slightly, though the slick hair and smoky makeup kept it editorially chic.

finally, a hit
This might be the first time I’ve genuinely liked a red carpet look from Lila Moss. Wearing Khaite Spring 2026, she delivered understated cool. The black puff-sleeve mini with a voluminous silhouette was playful yet sleek. Her styling — minimal and sharp — let the shape speak for itself, and it worked beautifully.
