2022 Governors Awards Red Carpet Roundup

Here is a roundup from the 2022 Governors Awards which was held at the Fairmont Century Plaza on Saturday (November 19 in Los Angeles, California.

I have to start with Viola Davis who was vibrant as ever wearing a custom Christopher John Rogers rainbow hued gown.

I adore the earrings, but am I being greedy by wishing that her clutch had been blue, pink or orange? 

As much as I love Angela Bassett, I found the bodice on her Giambattista Valli Fall 2022 Haute Couture gown unflattering.

Cicada Jewelry completed her look. 

Aubrey Plaza is a girl who love colour, but on this occasion she opted to wear this black Mônot plunging gown styled with Graziela Gems and Effy Jewelry, perhaps this was to provide a blank canvas for her new blonde hair. 

Carey Mulligan was back to keeping things simple and chic wearing a black Valentino Resort 2023 gown with the standout feature being the embellished straps.

Danai Gurira was a vision wearing the sandy tones of the Max Mara Spring 2023 collection which she styled with Tiffany & Co. jewelry.

After wearing an experimental look that didn’t quite land, Elizabeth Banks went back to the designer who never fails her: Elie Saab.

As beautiful as this Resort 2023 gown is, I would’ve loved a shade or red or pink lip colour to lift this look. 

Emma Corrin will always march to the beat of their own drum, so I wasn’t surprised to them her opt out of the gala gown parade, and rock this Miu Miu look styled with Cartier jewelry.

Love it or hate it, you can’t deny how perfectly matched this is to their style. 

Fresh from the ‘Strange World’ London premiere, Gabrielle Union opted to wear a sultry black lace Prada dress styled with a signature Prada bag.

I want to say that I’m not crazy about the hairstyle, but I feel that I’m comparing this to her previous look which wouldn’t be fair. 

Greta Gerwig made a subtle announcement that she is expecting her second child wearing a free flowing, Carolina Herrera floral print gown. 

Janelle Monáe gave us a mini sparkler wearing a Giambattista Valli Fall 2022 Haute Couture gown, when I was expecting a fireworks display. 

I’m sure most will be enjoying Janelle taking her foot off the gas since her dramatic ‘Glass Onion’ promo tour.

As gorgeous as Jessica Chastain looks in this Zuhair Murad Spring 2020 Couture gown, every fiber in my being wishes this was green.

It’s a joy for me to see Laura Dern in this Ralph Lauren Spring 2023 look.

Not only for the colourful skirt, but also I think Laura fares better when she opts for classic brands. 

Michelle Monaghan and Monique Lhuillier are serving up the new naked dress in this stunning embellished off-the-shoulder creation from the Spring 2023 collection, which she styled with Jennifer Meyer jewelry.

You know how I feel about Mindy Kaling and black dress, but damn she was on fire wearing this Versace bustier dress.

Had the underlayer been black, I know I would’ve loved this Erdem Spring 2023 dress more on Olivia Wilde.

I think I could force myself to like this based on Olivia’s energy alone, because she’s working this look.

British actress Tanya Moodie wore this blue dress which was easy to identify based on the tassels alone, as they have become the signature of most Taller Marmo dresses.
