Lil Nas X Wore Atelier Versace To The 2021 MTV VMAs

Lil Nas X was the first to catch my eye on the red carpet at the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards held at Barclays Center on Sunday (September 12).

I mean.   How could you miss him?

The singer likes to make a dramatic entrance and, on this occasion, he was channelling his inner Rick James.

Or is that Prince?  Or is that Randy Watson from Coming to America? Or he could very well be paying homage to the rapper Lil Kim who wore a purple jumpsuit to the 1999 VMAs.

He rocked a custom Atelier Versace suit which was already iconic for the gorgeous lilac hue, but then you factor in the asymmetrical off-the-shoulder and the lace-up back detail that cascades to long train, before you even get to the crystal embroidery.

I was fully prepared to be rolling my eyes for a Lil Nas X look tonight, but I’m pleasantly surprised how much I love this.

It’s a beautiful fashion piece, and not a shock value look.
