Emilia Clarke Continues the Emmys’ Lilac Trend in Prada

Emilia Clarke returned to the Emmy Awards this evening, where she reunited with Emma D’Arcy for a Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon crossover moment as they presented Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie.

Lilac is the unexpected colour of the night, with Florence Pugh and Sarah Pidgeon wearing the same hue, but sadly, the colour is where my enthusiasm ends with this Prada gown.

And the issues remain the same. I feel like I’m just repeating myself at this point.

Have a signature by all means with this silhouette, which in this case comes with a cape-style back featuring symmetrical bows, but when the tailoring and fabric – this time silk faille – consistently become the main talking points for the wrong reasons, it’s just disappointing for such a big brand.

After all this time, I still don’t get it. How can you send Zendaya out in such a stunning gown and then, at the same event, send Emilia out in a crumpled gown that is also too long for her?

The idea is so lovely, especially with the soft lilac hue and cape detail, but the execution lets it down. The fit needed refining, the length needed addressing, and the fabric simply doesn’t stand up.

Boucheron jewels completed her look.
