Celebrities in Chanel for the WSJ. Magazine Innovator Awards
Last night, WSJ. Magazine celebrated its 2026 Innovator Awards honourees at The Museum of Modern Art in New York City, recognising seven influential figures for their contributions to their respective industries, including Chanel’s artistic director, Matthieu Blazy.

With Blazy among the honourees, it was hardly surprising to see so many Chanel ambassadors and friends of the house wearing the French label.
We’ve already seen Dua Lipa’s Parisian socialite moment. Here’s how the rest of the Chanel contingent dressed for the occasion.
Brown Suit, Better Accessories
A$AP Rocky, who joined Dua Lipa in presenting Matthieu Blazy with his Fashion Innovator Award, represented Chanel’s menswear in a brown Chanel suit. And you know I’m always going to appreciate brown tailoring. But what makes this combination interesting is the aquamarine shirt and burgundy tie. The freshness of the shirt lifts the dark suit, while the richness of the tie complements the brown beautifully. It’s an unexpected colour combination that works.

And, of course, we can always count on A$AP Rocky for statement accessories. His Ray-Bans are practically a given, as are his Chanel brooches and bags. This time, he carried the Chanel Acorn Minaudière from the Métiers d’Art 2026 collection, crafted from natural wood with a gold-tone, crystal-embellished cap. I love how the gold detailing complements the suit’s gold camellia buttons, tying everything together.

Pretty, But Too Mature?
Bhavitha Mandava’s Chanel look from the Venice Film Festival is still living rent-free in my head, so perhaps my expectations were a little high.
Her black silk Chanel Pre-Fall 2026 dress, embroidered with beads and sequins, is undeniably pretty, and the turquoise embellishments are particularly lovely. But I can’t help feeling that this is a little too mature for her.

The Necklace Saves It
Comedy Innovator Award recipient Amy Poehler wore a black Chanel Spring 2026 dress, and considering the silhouette, this was one of those occasions when the outfit needed something extra.
Thankfully, the statement Chanel necklace delivered. It almost distracts me from that random pocket, which I’m still struggling to understand. A Chanel clutch and sandals completed her look, and for once, I’m giving Chanel footwear a definite thumbs-up.

Classic Chanel With a Sheer Twist
I love the simplicity of Imaan Hammam’s black Chanel midi dress, especially the sheer detail, which gives an otherwise classic Chanel silhouette a slightly different feel. The quilted Chanel bag and black strappy sandals were the perfect finishing touches. It’s understated and fabulous.

Keeping Things Casual
The man of the evening, Matthieu Blazy, kept things decidedly casual in Chanel, opting for a relaxed shirt-and-trouser combination instead of the more formal tailoring we saw on A$AP Rocky.

Graphic Appeal
Miyako Bellizzi’s Chanel Resort 2027 dress has an interesting graphic quality, with fine contrasting lines that give an otherwise simple black silhouette more character. I’m not crazy about the black-and-white Chanel slingbacks, although they do complement the dress. The statement earrings are a nice touch. I told you they were back.
