Ayo Edebiri’s Custom Chanel Emmys Look Is Uniquely Her

Ayo Edebiri attended the 2026 Emmy Awards as a nominee for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for The Bear.

Fresh from the Toronto International Film Festival, where she was promoting her new film, Clarissa, the Chanel ambassador completely switched gears from that outing, wearing a custom blue dress accented with a bold red bow.

I love how Matthieu Blazy created a dress for Ayo that feels specific to her, because you can’t tell me you saw this dress and immediately thought Chanel. It’s an Ayo dress, and that is what a custom look should do: reflect the person wearing it.

Some might say the sculptural volume and unexpected colour combination feel more Rosie Assoulin or Christopher John Rogers than Chanel, and I wouldn’t say that you’re wrong. But that only reinforces my point. Blazy isn’t restricting his ambassadors to a recognisable Chanel formula; he is finding ways to bring their individual style into the house.

I love the flash of red against the blue. It’s unexpected, fun and completely in keeping with the way Ayo approaches fashion.
