Gillian Anderson Wore Mary Katrantzou To The ‘Histoires De La Nuit’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere
On the penultimate day of the Cannes Film Festival, Gillian Anderson was back on the red carpet for the Histoires De La Nuit premiere, this time fulfilling her duty as a L’Oréal ambassador to bring glamour to the Croisette.

And she did just that wearing one of my favourite labels: Mary Katrantzou, in a custom gown inspired by the Resort 2026 collection.
What I love most here is the duality of the design. The long black column silhouette delivers classic, pared-back elegance, but the sculptural silver embellished fan detail completely transforms the dress into something far more dramatic and visually arresting.

The embellishment almost looks like rippling liquid metal sweeping across the bodice, which stays true to the house’s DNA through Mary Katrantzou’s fascination with metamorphosis and illusion, where garments often feel like wearable optical art rather than straightforward eveningwear.
Chaumet jewellery completed her look.
Stylist: Martha Ward.
