Wearing a custom black Chanel one-shoulder gown, this was minimalism at its most glamorous, with the feathered appliqués and thigh-high slit ensuring that the look still carried the kind of drama Cannes demands.

I think many of us have come to associate Penelope with more romantic Chanel moments over the years, so seeing her lean into something sleeker and sultrier felt like a refreshing shift.
