Ruth Negga Wore Balenciaga To The ‘Coward’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere

Jury member Ruth Negga attended the Coward Cannes Film Festival midnight premiere.

The actress wore a Balenciaga by Pierpaolo Piccioli gown which carried all the signatures of the designer’s debut Spring 2026 collection: the elongated silhouette, the stark black-and-white palette, the sculptural simplicity, and the emphasis on clean, dramatic lines.

This felt like a pure study in restraint through shape, as the long black column gown swept elegantly behind her.

While the white opera gloves were always going to become part of the conversation, I do wish they were slightly more fitted, rather than softly bunching through the arms and fingers, yet they still reinforced the old-Hollywood mood running through this look beautifully.
